People need to simmer. Who knows, no one might declare and god forbid we have Jakarr and Dangelo for a junior and senior season. So far, we have no right to question his recruiting at all. He knew he had a missing link in the X and O and it is now fixed. He got cancer, set us back. Again, simmer down, we are not UK, Kansas or Duke. He has killed it on the recruiting trail since he has been here.

We were Kansas. or Kentucky well not quite, but a lot more important then Duke once upon a time and Lavin at least is trying to get  us back there. Come to thing about you can put Kansas in the same category as Duke. Lavtin could well be the last chance.

Don't want to ruffle any feathers here - but folks treat Duke like they were nothing before Krzyzewski arrived.   They'd been to 4 final fours, and were twice national runner-ups before K came on board (he inherited a team 2 years removed from the NCAA title game).  Way back in 1974, the Blue Devils became only the 8th team in college history with over 1,000 wins (joining St. Johns on the list - SJU started their  B'ball program in 1907, Duke became Duke and started in 1920).

+1

And Schmerhorn, Kansas had 4 Final Fours in the 40's and 50s, their success (like Duke's) isn't just a recent development.
I'm as much a SJU fan as anyone, and go ahead and say that our program, at it's peak, was on par with the Kansas's of the world.  I have no problem with that
But to say we were "a lot more important" of a program, is just not true under any objective analysis.

Key word "were" as in the last 10 years we have been an after thought. In today's day and age of what have you done for me lately. I hope Lavin gets us back and from what he has done so far, it looks like it. I feel this season is the true jumping point into the next level and if everyone stays for the next 2 seasons, I think we could be really, really special.

The Red Storm's tour through Europe will last from August 19th to September 1st.

After months of anticipation, St. John's has released details of its upcoming summer tour of Europe.

The Johnnies will travel through France, Italy and Spain for a two-week period beginning August 19th. There, on a tour the program has named "#SJUBB: Taking Europe by Storm," they will play five games against professional teams and experience many educational, cultural and service aspects of the area.

Many high profile programs make similar trips out of the country just months before the season begins to gain valuable on- and off-court experiences. The trip will be the first for the Red Storm of the Steve Lavin era. The Storm last left the United States for a four-day trip to Canada in 2009.

According to NCAA rules, teams are granted an opportunity to travel abroad once every four years and conduct up to ten practices before the trip.

"It's a great opportunity for our 15 student-athletes," Lavin said in the team release. "The practices prior to our departure have been helpful to jumpstart our teaching progression and implement our system at an earlier stage than usual."

St. John's have planned exhibitions against Rouen Basket and Evreux of the French Pro B League, Stella Azzurra of the Italian Nazionale B League, and Spanish teams CB Prat Joventut Badalona and Basquet Manresa. The school will provide daily recaps throughout the trip on the athletics website and using social media.

Reid Forgrave of FOX Sports will also be traveling alongside the Johnnies during the first week of the tour, assembling reports and footage to later be shown on the newly-unveiled Fox Sports 1 Network.

The team will have the opportunity to see some the famous sites of Europe, including the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame Cathedral, the Pantheon, the Roman Coliseum, the Vatican and St. Peter's Basilica.

The trip will be the first opportunity for the Red Storm to play together since adding highly-rated freshman point guard Rysheed Jordan to the roster. The team also welcomes transfers Orlando Sanchez and Max Hooper, along with redshirt senior God`sgift Achiuwa.

"St. John's has historic ties to the areas our team will be visiting, including campuses in Paris, France and Rome, Italy," said Athletic Director Chris Monasch. "The trip is about more than athletic competition for our team; it will emcompass a spirit of global education and the Vincentian Mission of the University via the cultural and service opportunities provided for our student-athletes over the course of two weeks."

From the SJU Press Release- In general, the pro teams the Red Storm will take on during their tour of Europe in games played in Paris, Rome and Barcelona, will be comprised of Europeans and some Americans. The average opposing player will be 29 years old.

Or slightly younger than Orlando (joking) those will be some grown arsed men for our boys to play. Should be a good test and help experience wise. They also will engage in some great sight seeing and hopefully further help them bond as a team. With the 5 games in Europe and the 2 other exhibition games we should be ready to go vs Wisconsin in the first game that counts.

I'll look, but if anyone can help to find if the games will be broadcasted in Europe, there's a chance that a website I use to watch games from around the world may carry it (free). Let me know.

And by the way 8pm local time is 3 or 2 pm est.

Quick question, if CJ or Felix play this month are they eligible to redshirt this upcoming season?

They'll both be valued members of the program in the years to come, but if one of them doesn't get any minutes it'll be a huge sign.
