it's only been like 3 or 4 games.  so it's not like he's disrupting it that much. and we've faced nobody.  chemistry will be fine in dec.  and i expect it to be fine vs LIU

Mase wont upset chemistry...he is a great TEAM player...never been the type who needs to shoot just for the sake of shooting...he'll fit right in and remind us why he is our BEST player in no time!

He's arguably (with the advent of Wright) our best player.  We can't concern ourselves with him hurting chemistry.  He's coming back.  And he should, and will, better the team.  We're going to need him for Big East play.  I think we're going to need him for the Miami game...

chemistry should be fine putting mase back in the lineup, hes our team captain and all these young kids are looking up to him for leadership. im sure they all wanna see him out their on the floor. optimal lineup with him back now is geno at point, larry at 2, mase at SF, tomas starting at center but rotating with dele, and burrell at power forward. DJ can come in pretty much anywhere but center and PG and horne can spell larry.

My response to this question was:

DJ and Paris are going to lose minutes.  But so will the centers; I think  Norm will play a faster 5 on the floor when there isn't a center to overwhelm Burrell and get him into foul trouble.

Mason's experience will be needed; I expect one of the freshmen to struggle a little in Big East play, and my bet's on Burrell, from what I hear/ know about his post moves.  Things that work against NEC power forwards aren't going to work against the elite; and he might be better served as an aggressive offensive rebounder/ putback slammer-- kind of like how Calhoun played but with more force and fewer "experimental" 3-pointers.  Burrell will still get his touches, though; but besides Sunday's game, I think his rawness in the post was evident.

Go small, especially against weaker competition.  Very few teams have such an impressive inside presence that we need to go big.  For now, stay small, athletic and hungry.  Looks to be the key to success..

Paris for the most part.  Which is unfortunate, because I've liked what I have been seeing.  It's a nice problem to have, having to sit players who can play and utilizing them off the bench.  Depth is always a good thing.  Something we didn't have as much of in the past.

Mason is a role player. Both Wright and Burrell can score in more ways than Mase. They will lead this team offensively.
He'll help, but if we put the ball in his hands and tell him to shoot it 17 times, he'll do what he always does, he'll make 6 or 7 shots, and our % will drop.

i have to disagree mase is goign to score more than burrel

justin needs to really work on his post game
especially when he is double and triple teamed

mase is goign to put up 16-17 points and burrel prob 12-13

We'll see. I hope you're right. Burrell will get more comfortbale passing out of the double teams. Mase needs improvement in ball handling, and in his face up game. JB's issues seem like they'll be corrected in practice. I've waited 2 full seasons to see Mase develop a handle.

I don't think the scoring burden/ pressure should be on Burrell.  I think he'll struggle against double teams and against frontlines like Notre Dame and Yukon.  I'd like to see him pass out of double teams, but I think his feel for his post moves will come along slowly.  We'll have a better sense of how this works on Wednesday... and I hope Mason doesn't shoot 17 times.  I like how the team has had balanced shot attempts in his absence-- Kennedy, Burrell, Lawrence, Wright looking for their shots.

This is what I see the playing time break down being once Mase is back to 100% :

Geno - 30 mins
Boothe - 10 mins
Wright - 30 mins
Horne - 8 mins
Cavataio - 2 mins
Mase - 35 mins
DJ - 15 mins
Burrell - 35 mins
Evans - 5 mins
Tomas - 20 mins
Coker - 10 mins

Total - 200 mins

Pg: Geno - 30 mins
      Boothe - 10 mins

Sg: Wright - 30 mins
      Horne - 8 mins
      Cav - 2 mins

Sf: Mase - 25 mins
     DJ - 15 mins

Pf: Burrell - 25 mins
     Mase - 10 mins
     Evans - 5 mins

C: TJ - 20 mins
    Coker - 10 mins
    Burrell - 10 mins

Notes: 1. DJ and Horne need more minutes but I dont see where from.
          2. Don't like Mase at the 4, but think it will happen once and awhile.
          3. Rob Thomas?

i agree with the idea that PGs are born not made, but i wouldn't be totally against seeing LW at the PG.

imagine a lineup of:

PG - LW
SG - DJ
SF - Mase
PW - Burrell
C - TJ or Coke

it is our most potent offense.

If DJ plays 15 minutes, Mase had better be putting up 20 and 10.
