July Open Period
« on: July 07, 2013, 07:35:01 PM »
I'm guessing it starts tomorrow or sometime this week.  Figured I'd start this thread and we can keep all staff sightings and such here.

Starts Wed the 10th I believe.

Gonna be interesting tournaments in Augusta, Indy, White Plains.

Staff has to cover everything. Targets everywhere.

I saw the staff at Shake Shack in the city discussing which burgers they like the best while mapping out recruiting. Which thread do I put that on

Indiana blog;
"· The pursuit of Goodluck: It’s no secret that Indiana is in hot pursuit of class of 2014 big man Goodluck Okonoboh. The Hoosiers have recruited the nation’s top shot blocker as diligently as anyone in recent months. And as a close friend of Noah Vonleh, it’s safe to say Okonoboh is well versed in what Indiana has to offer as a program. The first chance to see Okonoboh up close this summer for coaches will be Thursday morning in Indianapolis as the Mass Rivals, an adidas AAU program that also produced Vonleh, will play in the adidas Invitational. Okonoboh is a potential program changer defensively because of his shot blocking prowess."

Last year I wasn't concerned as we had none avail (1 after Garret trfd)
This year with 3-4, would be nice to pick up 1-2 in summer

Vonleh and Goodluck played on same AAU team. Often happens that while watching one player they will like another. Case in point with Obekpa/Balamou.

Goodluck is wide open. Hasn't really been focused on college quite yet.

If you guys are looking to attend some events close by then Philadelphia has the Reebok camp and tournament at Philly U and close by will be Hoop Group's tournaments in King of Prussia, PA.

Both Goodluck and Larrier will be playing at Summer Classic East in King of Prussia.

At the end of the month Buzzer Beater Classic is at Basketball City in NYC. Checking out games there is great due to location on the pier. No matter who is playing in that event I'd go check it out. Also if you're looking to gamble Live in AC is another great event.

Peach Jam;

NEW YORK LIGHTNING
Team: New York Lightning
Location: New York, New York
Record: 11-7 (tied for second place in division B)
Peach Jam Schedule:
July 11 (9:30 am) – vs Team Final
July 11 (6:30 pm) – Team Penny
July 12 (8:00 am) – vs MOKAN Elite
July 12 (5:00 pm) – St. Louis Eagles
July 13 (11:00 am) Spiece Indy Heat
Team Synopsis: This squad loves to play at an erratic pace. The faster the game, the more comfortable they are. An extremely well-coached squad, the Lightning have weapons at each position and love to work in transition.
Guards: Their backcourt is very athletic, featuring guards who cause havoc on the defensive end and in transition. The diminuative Desure Buie splits time at point guard, creating open shots for his teammates. Recent Rutgers-commit Mike Williams can score from all over the floor. He teams with Khadeen Carrington, a gifted scorer who employs a terrific motor. Throw Kahari Beufort in the mix, and you have arguably the most backcourt depth in the EYBL.
Forwards: Luis Montero is a do-it-all guard/forward who can bring the ball up and create for his teammates, Standing at 6-foot-7, he has a knack to get to the basket almost and is an improving shooter. Angel Delgado is the best rebounder in EYBL and an MVP candidate, so his value goes without saying.
Center: Luis Santos and Jessie Govan are the men in the middle along with Delgado. Both kids are very strong in the post and have developing skills. Their biggest impact will be on the defensive end.
X-Factor: Simply put, the x-factor is the pace of the game, along with the dominance of Delgado inside. They work extremely well as a unit when they are running, and that starts with Delgado on the boards. If the Lightning can get up and down the floor, they should hold an advantage over their opponent.
