Chad Ford's Top 100 2014 Draft Prospects

Put out a new list today. Jakarr came in at 74 and Obekpa was 88.

So JaKarr would be a mid third round pick and CO would be a late third round pick. Oh, wait, there is no third round. Not that they aren't ranked higher elsewhere or can't move way up but selfishly I hope both return for their junior years, continue to develop and end up fairly high draft picks who end up with productive NBA careers.

Wouldn't be surprised if Jakarr stuck around longer than 2 years.

I think we see Jakarr climb rapidly on the draft prospects list as the season progresses.

Obekpa needs at least another year. Far too raw to even discuss him as a draft prospect at this point

I don't see either going in the second round next year. Maybe after their junior seasons.

Who stays or goes is not necessarily predicated on "if" or "where" they will be drafted.  There is plenty of $ overseas and each individual has their own family needs/situation.

I believe that us being in the top 25(hopefully) and going to the tourney will help both Sampson and Obekpa get noticed more.  I also think that Jakarr will leave us after next year and Obekpa stays all four years.

Agreed.

One never knows though. DLo has an opportunity to show us that he's a lot more than just a scorer this year.

Didn't Hatten and Hardy come in as Juco transfers - i.e. their junior years?   D'Lo was a pretty heady scorer right away as a freshmen.  It would only be fair to start comparing D'Lo's body of work to theirs at equal stages in their collegiate careers.

I believe they also played 4 years of college to get to be "better players".   Are you really claiming Hardy as a JUNIOR was a better player than D'lo  was as a freaking freshman?

Harrison has greater than a 1000 points more than both of those guys did at this time of their division 1 career.

I truly don't see Obekpa as even a remote nba prospect right now.  I can't even fathom how someone would think he's more of a prospect than Jakarr.   Makes no sense to me. 


Harrison has half his college career ahead of him.  I'm usually the first to say he's overrated and needs to be more efficient offensively, but it's entirely possible he leaves SJU as an all time great.   His personal and team ccomplishments could far outshine Hatten and Hardy put together.   Nothing against those two guys, but Harrison could really leave a mark here.

Totally true Ted.  And he's had the greenest of green lights during that time too.  So he's had or will have opportunities that Hatten and Hardy didn't have.
I'm just saying he has half his book unwritten, and when all is said and done his accomplishments could look pretty impressive.

While I agree with you he's not ready for the NBA, teams will draft you based on raw potential. NBA scouts are probably drooling over his shot-blocking.
