“@StJohnsBBall: That's a final from Paris. Evreux 85, #SJUBB 61. Game totals and leaders coming up.”

These guys should've been in all along!  :)

Looks like offense stagnated for periods, like last season. Still things that need to be corrected obviously. Hopefully Jordan makes a difference in this area

Thank you so much for letting me follow the game on the JohnnyJungle website! You did an amazing job!

I can't believe we lost by 24 points. This was a bad outing any way you look at it. I just don't know what we did on D from a strategy perspective.

Ok I will stop bugging you guys. I am just the jinx here.

Hopefully a dose of reality increases the intensity of practice.  These wins and losses can all be a fool's gold.

Well they beat Temple (tournament team last season) by 30, so we shouldn't be shocked to have lost by 24. It seems like we hung with them until the end and we were in deep foul trouble the entire game. Either way I think its great for them to face professional, experienced teams like this.

Ouch!

“@StJohnsBBall: Evreux continues to use its inside-outside attack to build 72-49 lead with 5 mins to play. JaKarr now with 8 pts but on the bench w/ 4 fls.”

That got out of hand quickly

Moose what is going wrong?

How in the world would I know? :)

Aren't you there?

Hopefully a teaching moment for Lavin and crew.  Looks like we played a solid team.

“@StJohnsBBall: Final foul totals were #SJUBB 24, Evreux  14. Johnnies attempt 11 free throws to the opponent's 22. Okay no more on that.”

Its amazing how much crisper the offense looks when you can't watch them.

to be fair, the team is doing more touring than practicing.  this is a great learning experience.  that's pretty much all you can take from the game.

At this stage you should learn a lot more from losing than winning.

Absolutely correct.  Don't forget, these are solid and seasoned pro teams that play together constantly.  Best learn our weaknesses before our season opponents do.

OMG! We are down by 23!!! :(  Yikes! I am afraid we are going zone when we have the athletes to go man.

You shouldn't be afraid of that. The zone should die a painful death. Daring shooters to miss has been the Achilles heel of the Lavin era.

It was a bad outing, from what I've read, but you have to remember that one, these are not college guys we're playing. They're pros. They may not be the best pros in the world, but they are still pros. I'm glad we had a chance to see where we stand against season physical players. And 2, clearly we have work to do. If we played these euro teams and houses all of them, there would have been no point in going, except for well going to France, Italy and Spain which is awesome in its own right.

Lavin needs these kids to really buy into his system, and work on what he thinks they need to work on. A loss now can help them all focus on what they need to do to get better. That should be the point of going. To see where we are. It's a clear advantage over other BE teams.
