This game is a very clear indication of what we have in a coach. These are his players. Lavin has had a long time to prepare. We better play well.

Be interesting to see who of the local beat writers, Kussoy/Braziller/Rubin/Logan, make the trip to sunny South Dakota for game.  If any.

This is a tough spot.  I'd be shocked by a victory.

Mr. Murdoch must be opening the purse...

Someone better tell Howie that this game is not in Madison with co-eds and frat parties...

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — How good can St. John’s be? We may know after Friday night.
With a Big East-best four players earning preseason honors, Steve Lavin may have assembled the school’s most talented team in 15 years. And though the coach is preaching patience for a young team integrating new pieces, the Red Storm have a chance to find out how far their talent can take them when they play their season-opener on Friday against 20th-ranked Wisconsin at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, S.D.

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — The first thing you notice about Rysheed Jordan is that you didn't notice him right away.
St. John's junior D'Angelo Harrison grabs the jugular with his passion and penchant for scoring. Red Storm sophomore JaKarr Sampson loosens the jaw with his athleticism and high-flying. Jordan, the Johnnies’ ballyhooed freshman, is a 6-3 glider who barely appears to be exerting himself as he slashes through a defense, makes the well-timed pass or steps into a passing lane to make a steal and start a break. Even his face barely shows any expression.

Defense, turn them over and offensive boards.  Biggest keys to the game.  If they're gonna take treys, we need to make them contested.

“Rysheed is as good a passer as I’ve seen in my career in broadcasting and coaching at this stage,” Lavin said. “We’ve got to see how it develops, but at this point he’s the best. Jason Kidd would be the next one. I’d put those two in the passing part for this stage.”

If J-Kidd had the supporting cast that Rysheed has, he would have won a NC.  Good times ahead.

I realized at the exhibition game last week  that I went to HS with that guy.     How long has he been covering the team?
Can't say I'm surprised he's a sports writer, seems made for the job.
