Wagner Predictions
« on: November 13, 2013, 01:13:34 PM »
As some of you knew besides being a St. John's supporter, I also an alum and supporter of Wagner. I attend mostly all of their home games considering my close proximity to the school.

Wagner is a veteran team who is picked to win the NEC. They are led by their senior back court both part of Hurley's original recruiting class. Kenny Ortiz, two time NEC Def Player of the Year, and Latif Rivers who is their best scorer are a dynamic back court. Valpo transfer Jay Harris and Marcus Burton come off the bench to make it a deep and talented backcourt. Michigan State transfer Dwaun Anderson also sees time here and at the small forward spot. Rivers, Harris, Burton can all light it up from deep although they have been off to a slow start as a team shooting wise.

In the front court, Orlando Parker is their most complete player but I think he is missing the game due to some rules violation. Senior shot blocking center Naofall Folahan and junior athletic freak Mario Moody will probably start in the front court. Parker not playing really hurts the depth here.

This team will play really intense defense for 40 mins that's for sure. They will make you work for everything.

Hope everyone enjoys the game. :)

I live on the rock and grew up around the corner from Wagner. A relative is an alumn and has season tickets so I go once or twice a year. Going to be a tough game. SJU running Redmen 72 Wagner 69 is my prediction

Wagner has played well lately. They have experienced guards.
I think we'll improve at home to beat them convincingly. This is not
a game that we should he worries about.

A loss would be unbearable, and demoralizing.

I'm expecting a win. 85-60

Gift scores 20 and pulls down 10 boards.

Suggestion to make prediction threads more interesting.  Along with the score, how about prediction who we think will be the impact player(s) and what stats he will have.

SJU -  78
Wag -  71

Dlo - 23 pts
CO - 7 blocks

You make it sound like every year people complain for no reason, and that you are wise enough to know that at a certain point in the season everything will work out.

I guess I have a hard time recalling that point in time more than 4 times in the last 20 years.

Only an SJU fan can call a 9 point win in which we score 63 points a blowout. Make it an SJU blowout .

Pretty sure it was a joke.. After all, we lost to Wisco by 11 and everyone called that a blowout.. I think you kind of made his point, actually.

Bushwah. The score has little to do with whether a game can be termed a blow out or not. A 63/52 game can be a blow out - if the score was 63 to nothing and the other team stopped playing offense and defense and let the other team score 52 straight. Whereas if the score was 53-52 with 2 minutes left and the winning team scored the last 10 on free throws, that's not a blow out. A game where the winning team stomps on the head of the loser for 10 minutes in route to a first half 20 point lead and coasts the rest of the way, that's a blow out, regardless of the final score.

Interesting thing about this board is how nearly every one is completely convinced that their own perspective is the only rational one. Each poster displays the cocksure certitude of the lunatic. Poison laments on the one hand the very thing that brings Marcus hope on the other, while you and Frank and all the other suprarationals chuckle smugly at their naivete. Rinse and repeat those two sentences and you don't have to read this board ever again. Me, I can barely crawl out of bed in the morning for self doubt and loathing and am nearly paralyzed by fear and indecision. I wonder whether to have lunch while questioning the wisdom of having had breakfast. Still, I'm pretty sure that after all this time that I know a good ass kicking when I see one.
