Believe it or not tomorrow's game...
« on: November 29, 2013, 10:02:58 PM »
...is a critical game.  They can't go 0-2 here.  That would be a mini-disaster.  And it would seriously put doubt in many of Lavin's supporters.

He was right to set the bar at the NCAA's (no way would Coach Roberts ever put an expectation like that).  Now he has to deliver.

It is bad enough they are not playing in the title game but they cannot go 0-2.

Another loss you give Lavin an opportunity  to roll out the old speech he used a couple of year ago after Fordham. St Bonnie's

Need to get this bad taste out of our mouths and more importantly at least come out with some consolation after losing this game down the stretch.

Sad to say I would have signed up for 1-1.
Problem is I would have rather lost to Miss in the championship.
Tomorrow is ridiculously critical.

Hope the players don't expect GT to roll over tomorrow. They are gonna bring it after getting blown out today and GT isn't much different than Penn State in terms of overall talent

You think GT is the same as PSU?  I thought GT looked pretty damn dreadful.  Then again we make dreadful teams look like world beaters.

GT is not very good and recently lost a player. Lose this and Lav will be chirping about 2014 -2015 being the year. Ha

Athletes that just happen to play basketball  is a recipe for disaster. Lavin better learn to attract dudes that have something between their ears

It's worse than just needing to win tomorrow.  We need to win the next 2 at absolute minimum.  If we want to get a leg up in terms of NCAA play in the post-season, besting Syracuse becomes something that needs to be a possibility.  Big East play isn't going to be easy.  League is tough, and not many Nancy's here.  Tougher top to bottom than we have had.  SJU needs to start getting some urgency and need to set the hierarchy, not be victim to it.  We could have won this game, but the results are the only thing anybody remembers.

If our guys have big expectations, then sometimes they need to have big performances and big wins.  Thus far, we haven't beaten anybody from a major conference.   Good news is that nobody from this team is going to the NBA after this season.  I think that is just about confirmed, even though it's early in the season.

As it stands right now beating Syracuse is not a possibility unless they play like they did vs St Francis and we play close to a prefect game.

Even though this is looking way ahead, I wouldn't be so sure that none of these guys will leave for the NBA or pro overseas after this season. There are vultures out there that convince these kids they are ready for the league and some of them are gullible enough to believe it. Every year there's a handful of kids that leave early even though they would be well advised to stay in college another year or 2

If it is true that we have a lot of players with low IQ(as some posters maintain) than while they may not make the NBA they might still leave early. Hope not.

The athletes aren't the problem.

Actually, I'm more concerned about the game vs. Fordham with Severe ( whom Lavin turned away and may be out to make a point) and others. If we can't at least be top dog in the City then how can we make a name for ourselves on a atonal level.  This game scares me.

Agree. I still will wait until end of season to judge whether Lavin should go. Continued inability to develop and coach the guys he recruited certainly is trending in the wrong direction. I know, "Master of the Obvious". Very disheartening!

Georgia Tech will hit 50% from three and play their best game of the year. Lavin has been talking a good game but it's starting to sound hollow. He needs to get this team to play defense from the tip and guard the three point shot better.  He better be careful with Jordan before he loses him and he transfers.
