There are no locks because we are not a great team.  We are clearly better than the Hall and Depaul and, if we come out and play the way we are supposed to, we should beat them.  But, on any given night, if we are not focused, or if they have an unbelievable game, we can lose to them.  Over the course of a season, I believe things even out and teams generally end up at or close to where they should be based on the talent that they have.

FWIW, I believe (hope) we can win 12 or 13 regular season Big East games ......of course it's possible we only win 8.

After 7 games onl5 of which I have seen, here are my highly anticipated thoughts:
Obepka-My favorite Center ever at SJU. I am currently in talks with developing a reality show about him. Embrace the blocks!

Sanchez-I think the NCAA is totally screwing us over by granting him eligibility.

Sampson-I think he has played very well. For him to ever make the pros he has to get better at a bunch of things but I think he has been fine.

Harrison- I miss the frohawk! PEOPLE WHO CRITICIZE HIM ARE STUPID!

Greene-Never going to be a great shooter or passer. Will have games where people other than Carmine wildly overate him and games where he is the worst player on the court. I am just happy he stopped dribbling around aimlessly. In fact he took my criticism so figuritively that he tried to go in for a dunk without dribbling at all.

Jordan-Honestly looks lost.

Pointer-Would like him do be more involved. One of our best passer's and for a team that can't shoot, he doesn't have a bad touch. Team has too many role players he needs to step up.

Branch-I go back and forth on him, but if it is not a slam dunk for everyone that he is not the answer at the point for us on a team with no other real option what does that say?

I disagree about Sampson , he has had his moments, but he hasnt played well imo.

Tomorrow is a big day......I am optimistic.  Rysheed's turn to break out. Hope Sanchez puts back to back excellent games together.

Averaging 12 pts / 7 reb / .50 FG% as a soph. David Russell territory.

Now that we're ten games, it's clear we can be a tourney team.  There is no one (maybe Villie) who should beat us twice and there are give or take three teams we can beat twice.  Wouldn't you just love to replay those three losses?  Game to game we are getting better and better just like Coach Lavin's first St. John's team.  fREE Jordan! Let the man speak.

We were a bubble team in a gargantuan BE, going against elite programs.  We are deeper this year in a much weaker conference. Granted this league will get fewer bids, but I don't understand why so many have doubts about us making the dance.

I have confidence the pieces are there, but I want to see us become a solid road team. The first two games should give me some indication and grounds for true confidence.
