Presuming that Cuse beat Binghampton tonight they will come into MSG ranked #2 in the country next Sunday.

I think the key will be playing inside/outside offense...interior passing....of course hitting 17 in a row would help.

I hope the refs let them play a little.

If St. John's doesn't settle and can get Sampson/Sanchez cooking at the high post and own the defensive glass then this could be St. John's day.

Yep I think this is Sanchez's game to shine. He is the perfect guy to stick at the top of the key and distribute the ball/hit some mid-range jumpers.

I think we need to get  the ball to the foul line...not just top of the key.

I think the key to the game is to score more points than them. We have a pretty good shot if we do that

The high post is key with the matchup.  Most interesting part for us to watch as the game unfolds.

If we do a lot of matchup, the guys better work hard to anticipate and get bodies on Cuse - "rebounding is special because it comes from the heart..." ~ Hank Gathers

The biggest matchup is the mental game IMO.  Syracuse including their coach, team and fans, KNOW they are going to win this game. Look at their fan board.  Their fans think it absurd that we even think we have s chance.  They have built this mentality of the Roman Empire.

Contrast to SJU fans who constantly think we are going to be destroyed by Fordham.  Fans who think we'd be smeared by Iona and the like.  It's embarrassing, but more than that it's wrong.  We came out and destroyed Fordham, not only because we are better but because we knee we owned them and wanted to own them.

Only way we can beat Syracuse is if we go out there like Fordham with the same mentality.  Unfortunately, there will be a big Syracuse crowd that can pinch our confidence as a team.  Csnt let it happen though.  We lose to them because we expect to, nothing more..

a guy I work with does play-by play for Syracuse.  We are an afterthought.. They have zero respect for us, and why would they?

Hopefully this works to our advantage.

I saw Mike Hopkins today. I'm sure he's a really nice guy but I wanted to kick his ass  :)

Time to take them down!

I think the bar here for a positive outcome is can we compete with them? Can we play with  them for 35 minutes? IMO, although they've played very well of late, I don't think they are that good of a team. When teams zone them, they eat it up. It's the best way to encourage them to kick your butt. But if we come out with an intense pressure, we can beat them. But we can't take our foot off the gas. We have to come out ready to press from tip off.

Honestly, they seem to view Saint John's and its fans with just the right degree of contempt: "A lot of Butt Hurt." Sounds about right to me.

Our fans should pipe down a bit honestly.

Agree. Let's play hard, smart & compete. Win or lose, that will set tone for rest of season.

Just didn't like hearing our fans chant we want Cuse.  We have done nothing to earn that and like the Cuse fans said, be careful what you wish for.

No doubt. Respect these guys, they have earned it. Time for us to get the same from them.  One way to do that, "Compete"! The "Rex Ryan" approach is stupid, as he found out. That coming from a Jet fan.
