GIft is down to 8 mpg now.  I expect that to probably drop even more.  Delarosa can play 5 mpg next year at the BE level.

I agree,  but even tho I'm far from a Gift-fan I know that if Obekpa fouls out or sprains his ankle and is down 3 games - we still have a chance.   It would be a blow, but It's not like our season is lost.    But next year we would have a ton of fire-power and experience, but it's playing with fire to have only 1 center on the roster.  Know what I mean?

But if what you say is true then I think we're in good shape because this team is just going to keep getting better.  Not that I'm already looking towards next season, just being honest that was a thought I had after the game.

I watched Delarosa the other day vs. Stepinac.  I don't know why but he didn't play in the 1st half at all.  He then played the whole 3rd quarter (8 mins), the first 3-4 minutes of 4th quarter, took a 1 minute breather and came in and finished the game.

How did he look?

I'll say it again..
Is Harrison flawed?  Sure.
You can ask Harrison to shoot slightly better, but just realize then you're asking him to be the best player in the country.   Because that's what a 10% better shooting D'angelo is... probably the best player in the country.
Don't you think that's asking a little much?

I think yesterday he was asked to do too much.  The effort he put in on defense on Cooney was worth 15 points on the shut out Dangelo pitched.  On one of his shots, he saw Cooney move down court and tore after him.  I think hi shooting towards the end was impacted by the 35 minutes of effort he gave.

Completely agree....but that's exactly why at end he should have given up the ball on offense to Jordan.

a few less shots and a few more assists  by DLO and we win....I have no doubt he'll see it himself when he watches the film...

I think that's fair.  And I think there is a big difference between 35 and 30mins.    And if we're going to try to play at a fast pace and with high intensity on D, then I think it's on coach to find places here and there to get him a rest.

Jordan was huffing and puffing at the 9 minute mark.  I think he got very tired at the end (has not played that many extended minutes this year), and that's why Harrison took over.  If you noticed, Ennis was starting to drive by Jordan again at the end of the game, after being shut down nearly the whole second half.  That's what allowed him to get the ball to Fair all those times.

Lavin experessed regret in the postgame about not making subs when guys looked tired, but he wanted to keep the in the unit that had brought us back.  He probably should have taken Jordan out for a couple of minutes, but if he did that, and Syracuse went on a quick 8-0 run, we'd all be killing him on here.

Great! Lavin is questioning something he did that I thought was 100% spot on. If you want to nit pick I would have maybe given Obepka a couple more minutes but I totally did not want to see either Greene or Branch come in for Jordan. In fact I would have thrown my hot dog at Lavin if this would have happened.

Why blast Green and Branch when they were not on the court. We did not get one made free throw from our entire front line. Maybe if we had a guy fight for position D'Lo would have a place to go with the ball. This year everything gets called and our bigs can't get to the line. when I heard we might go with 3 guards, I wondered why we would do that with a NBA front line. I really thought Harrison was going to get help from Sanchez and Sampson with the game on the line down the stretch.

I am not blasting them, Harrison and Jordan are much, much, much better. Against the number 2 team in the country in a close game I like to have my best players on the court. Lavin did that and I agree.

However, DLo 6-20, 1-7 from three?  There's your loss.  If your star player takes that many shots and is as inefficient as he was, say goodnight.

CJ FAir was 9-17 from the floor and 0 for 3 from three. There's your win. Slightly more efficient than Harrison and consensus player of the game. Without Harrison SJ is not even in the game at the end.

Three guys showed up, Harrison being one of them. The rest could have stayed home and had a nice brunch. Branch and Greene scored 4 points in 25 minutes on 1 for 6 shooting. They were awful. Obekpa scored a point in 25 minutes when he wasn't getting punked under the basket. He was awful. Sanchez was awful. Pointer was slightly better than awful. That's why they lost.

People continue to post with quiet hopes that Harrison goes away.  I don't know when they will learn.

As someone stated earlier.  Big players come through in big games.  I am still waiting for Harrison to do so.  Would he be missed if not around, of course but if you were to look at his stats against the better teams in conference for the past few years, you may note that they are not impressive for a player of his "hype".  Still waiting for him to come through big in a "big game".  Hopefully it will happen soon.

Hey Moose, not everything is either black or white.  No one said they wish Harrison would leave, such a drastic analysis shows immaturity on your part.  I was simply stating that in a game where a big performance from him was needed, it didn't happen. It's like when someone is critical of a move made by Lavin and some idiot will inevitably make an idiotic statement like " maybe they should fire Lavin and the whole staff".  What is the average age of posters on here anyway?

This is absurd.  Harrison turned the game around singlehandedly yesterday with I believe it was 4 baskets in a row for SJU including rebounding the ball.  Our problem is not Harrison.  When Harrison is on, he's on and he's hard to stop.  The problem is that when he's cold, we need other guys to step up.  That's how a team game works.  Our biggest problem is other guys not stepping up.
Yesterday we tied Syracuse with rebounds, we had one less turnover that they did, we shot well from the line and foul calls were even. Our problem was that nobody besides Harrison could score.  Sanchez didn't show up.  Maybe he should have taken a jumper or two?

It was our game to win.  We lost it with a few ill-timed free throw misses and and posessions.  The silver lining is that the game was pretty evenly matched and they are the number two team in the nation.  It bodes well for us if we can keep improving.  We really are missing a small forward that can shoot.  Cant afford to hsve 1-17 games from three and expect to best Syracuse,

Stop trying to make sense of it Marcus.  Just play along with her.

Agree,  if you ake sense around here it will lead to confusion and Moose will start making ridiculous statements like let's get rid of everybody.  So here goes the confusion.  If you watched the game, it was not just that Harrison was off,  its that much of his shots were not good ones, forced is another way to put it. There were times when a good pass may have been the better route.  Why with all the supossed talent around him he still feels the need to do so is not what anyone anticipated for this "breakout season", and needs to be worked on in the practice arena if this team is to progress as we all had hoped.

Harrison takes bad shots because he has to. I don't think he is selfish or foolish. I would rather him take a bad shot then some one else taking a better shot. Harrison played a great game yesterday. It wasn't enough but he isn't Michael Jordan. Complaining about him is beyond silly.

I thought Harrison forced things a bit too much down the stretch.  If he's taking jump shots, i'm ok with it for the most part. But he was getting inside and when he forces his shots amongst the trees, they aren't getting to the rim.

I don't mind him doing it in the grand scheme of things.  He's the leader and he's the guy you want taking the big shots.  They haven't been falling this year as much.  I'm not looking at percentages in front of me, but I am assuming they are down.  If they aren't, I think it's just a perception that the BIGGER shots aren't going down.  Can't forget that he has hit a ton of clutch shots in his career, basically carrying the team on may occasions.

Side note-  I think Sampson has been playing very good.  His jumper almost looks more fluid this season..  Maybe it is just me..  He also forces things at times. Needs to be a better passer.

I think from now on, after this game, Jordan will take on a much larger offensive roll and slowly be the leader.  Not in a rah, rah D-lo kind of way, but he will be the spark that drives the engine and future success will depend on how good he gets.

Our peak is much higher with Jordan playing the majority of PG minutes than either Branch or Greene..

Isn't a shot from the inside higher percentage plus the chance of getting fouled and going to the line, better than hoisting a 3?

not when you are surrounded by a front line like Cuse's that can block shots.   He did draws some fouls.  I'd rather see him draw the d and dish personally.

I thought he tried to do too much at the end.. No big deal.

He can dish when he has to.  He has showed good vision.  But as others pointed out against Cuse and those trees you cited dishing isn't as easy for not a natural point guard once inside the teeth of the zone.  Some say we penetrated a lot.  I wish we penetrated more.  Take 3 of those 3's that were forced and go down low and maybe 2 are turned into fouls.
