The fact he chose to come back, if anything speaks to coach's skill at recruiting and connecting with his players. So hats off to Lavin, he did a great job dealing with that situation.
The fact that the kid was so miserable from the beginning is more alarming. Why not have things go smoothly right from the day he arrived?
Did Lavin not have a relationship with the kid before he showed up on campus? Lets praise Lavin for the team finally putting together a complete game against a big conference foe and while we are at it lets kiss his butt for being able to keep Jordan here.
Desco, you talk like you know it all and have all these sources but you really don't have a clue at whether or not Jordan had 2 feet out the door. None at all.
No, I do not know what he was thinking. And I don't really have sources, I'm not secretly an assistant coach, and I've never tried to come off as an "insider". BUt sometimes you do hear things.
And several people all heard similar things, so I don't feel it's right to get on Baldi for crying wolf.
Posters on the other board who went on the Butler trip said they heard it from coach's mouth at a pregame reception that it was a difficult situation and other coaches were contacting Rysheed illegally. That's not from my mouth, I'm just reporting what several unrelated people said they heard.
The bottomline is Baldi wasn't spouting nonsense. Rysheed was weighing to leave or not. For what reasons, and how close he got to going is up for debate.
As Dave points out I'm sure it's not black and white. And I don't doubt his mom's illness was part of the equation. But it's not a coincidence that he was weighing to transfer and missed the first game of 2nd semester.
