Player Roles

Do you think players have a good sense of their role on the team? How many minutes they'll play? What they should be doing once they're in there?

Who is hustle guy?
Who's job is it to own the glass?
Who is there to distribute?
Who needs to be the one looking for his shot?

roles are hard  to develop with different rotations and lineups nightly. Lavs really needs to shorten the bench . Sanchez has to stop carrying the ball and lets the guards do it.

Just wondering what is wrong with his ball handling?  I see 1 turnover today.

Sanchez dribbles fine, but he is sloooow. We had numbers a few times today. Him leading the break lets the other team set up

balamos sanchez- hustle. i think felix needs more minutes when phil and dom aren't going. either him or one of our "lights out shooters" marco and max
handle-sheed and branch, little bit of sanchez- we should never see anybody but sheer or jordan handle it maybe slo from a lead guard spot but thats it
sheed has to look to be as aggressive as he was late today for the rest of the year
we should pound teams on the back board we can rebound from all 5 positions

Hustle guy is Dom but he's regressing offensively which is quickly making him a liability out there.

The glass needs to be owned by Chris, Orlando and Karr

The last two questions go together.  Sheed has to distribute more.  He is getting more comfortable with the ball in his hands out there but I'm going to say there is something wrong with the offense.  Him and Dee can be lethal together but right now they are both playing 1 on 1.  I've always wondered if Lavin has been trying to hammer a square peg into a round hole.  Are the players he brings in the right fit for the 'offense' he's trying to run?

Add one more player that can provide consistant offense from the wing position and you will see a completely different looking offense. Players' make plays.

I didn't see a minute of the game because I was working..  That being said, 31% from field will get you a loss, every single time.

Its more about the ability of the player that defines the role and unfortunately, we don't have a good rebounder. Dom is the hustle guy, but he is a liability on offense as well as CO. Jordan is our best distributer but we will need him to score. Karr and D'lo are the only ones who actually look for their shot as well they should, but they are not good shooters. Jordan is coming along in that regard. We are a poor shooting team. This will improve over time as Lavin brings in more refined players. In the mean time, enjoy the team, they play hard.

Am I the only one who gets more agita watching other teams play than watching our own games?  I'd lock the kids in rooms with constant loops of other college games.

@franfraschilla: No more head games now that Big East is here. SJU has to let Rysheed Jordan go and live with the results. He's their difference-maker.

Lol
I'm going obekpa, Harrison, Sanchez, dlo, Sampson,
Stick Sanchez and or Sampson at the high post , let them create from there and help screen the top of zones and put the other at the short corner with obekpa on the baseline. Open it up and go, too much personal for us to struggle to get buckets. So much depth still coming off the bench with that lineup too.

Assuming you meant Jordan in there instead of Harrison twice

Jordan or branch at PG at all times. Jordan 30 mpg, Branch 15
Harrison 30-35 mpg.
Greene 15 min as a backup SG or 3rd guard.
Dom and Jakarr at the 3
Jakarr and Sanchez at the 4
Sanchez and CO at the 5.

Gift gets a few mins when we need size, Felix a few when we need defense, Hooper if we need a 3. These guys should get 5 min or less per game and only exist to provide a spark

Judging by today's game, everyone thinks Harrison and Jordan will do everything themselves. The rest of the team is gun shy. Pointer should be a leader by now. Greene is doing his best, but Branch has really let us all down.
