Do you think players have a good sense of their role on the team? How many minutes they'll play? What they should be doing once they're in there?

Who is hustle guy?
Who's job is it to own the glass?
Who is there to distribute?
Who needs to be the one looking for his shot?

I don't think guys have a good sense of their roles yet and that is understandable.  The staff needs to get real with a few guys.  Dom and Sampson should not be allowed to dribble on the perimeter.  Ever.  That needs to be a black and white rule.  It only leads to trouble.  Sanchez gets a slightly longer leash, but he needs to be told to pick his drives wisely and should go over weekly film of every drive he's made or had an opportunity to make and explain why he should or shouldn't have done it.

Sampson needs to be sat down and shown tape of Hakim Warrick--a guy that never drove wildly from 20-25 feet, a guy that didn't take a single three as a soph or junior, and a guy that cleaned the offensive glass and dominated bigger defenders with a devastatingly quick first step and no more than two--three max--dribbles.  He needs to be around the basket for every shot attempt.  When he faces up in the mid to high post, he is a big-time threat.

Jordan and Harrison need to build chemistry.  Jordan has become our best offensive option, but he can't drive 5-6 times straight.  Harrison has to touch the ball, especially when he is 4-5 from three.  I think they went about 2-3 minutes late without Harrison touching the ball and when he finally got it, he forced a shot.

Branch has to find a way to co-exist with those two, and he needs more than five minutes.  He can't get in the way of Jordan's excellence and he has to be willing to get dirty on the glass and defensive end.  He has to be aggressive with his dribble as well.

Judging by today's game, everyone thinks Harrison and Jordan will do everything themselves. The rest of the team is gun shy. Pointer should be a leader by now. Greene is doing his best, but Branch has really let us all down.

I think Branch has been great. Underutilized.

He's been more efficient and really gets the ball moving. I think it is contagious when he is in there. I'd like to see a lineup with him at the point with Sheed and Harrison on the wings. That offense would be running down hill.

Branch had 3 assists with just 1 turnover in 5 minutes.  How is that letting us down?

Yep...can't fathom why he gets shortchanged every game...Lavin must prefer errors of omission over commission...Frankly, I'd rather turn the ball over attempting to get a high % shot than run 30 seconds off clock and take one of our patented low %, momentum sapping shots

GG starting wasn't the issue to me. He is a better offensive player and rebounder than Obekpa. But starting Greene at the point? WTF! We know how that story ends already. Either Jordan or Branch should be in the game at all times.

My starting five:

Jordan
Harrison
Pointer
Sampson
Sanchez

Branch and Obekpa would be my first off the bench and Felix and Greene would round out my primary nine man rotation. Other players get in base on situations, match ups, or foul trouble.

You can't start Jordan as he'll foul out of the game.  Here are the numbers for 4 of his last 6 games:

4 fouls 26 minutes
4 fouls 24 minutes
4 fouls 31 minutes
4 fouls 17 minutes

He also fouled out of the Wisconsin game in 24 minutes.  I would rather not start him and play him significant, hopefully non-foul trouble, minutes in the second half.

I like Baldi's lineup except with Sanchez in for Pointer.  Need Sanchez's rebounding.

I don't get how there are no repercussions for anything.  Let's take Sanchez for example.  Under no circumstances should he be bringing the ball up the court or catching the ball on the wing.  He is too slow for it.  If I'm Lavin, I keep trying to get that point across to him.  And if he doesn't listen, he isn't on my floor period.

Same thing with Dom yesterday.  He may have played one of the worst games in his St. John's career.  Why is he handling the ball at the top?  Doesn't Lavin stress to him that he is not the PG for this team?  If guys are doing what they are instructed to do, then get them off the court and make the point.

I don't think the staff ever told Sanchez not to bring it up after getting a defensive rebound and they may have even encouraged it. Sanchez doesn't seem like the type of kid/player that would just disobey the coaches. I believe the coaches told him to stop shooting so many 3s and he's listened

I've read this a couple of times and I don't understand why people are against Sanchez bringing up the ball. He isn't that slow, is he as fast as some of the other players, no, but he will make better decisions. Its an advantage that he can initiate the fast break. If he waits to give the ball to another player it will allow the defense more time to get back.

you make a good point about Jorden. Branch should be the pg when Jorden isn't playing.Use Greene as a backup 2 or third guard.
