To win Basketball games you need to play solid D and Score Points.

Pointer & Obekpa play great defense but we are not getting  a lot of points off our defense to compensate for their lack of offense.

At least 15 times during the Xavier game Harrison or Jordan beat their guy off the dribble, Dom's man came to help and they dished the ball to Dom for a wide open Jumper. What Happen we had to restart the offense with less time on the shot clock because Dom is unwilling to shoot the ball.

Sorry but my opinion is Dom need his minutes reduced. Branch need to play more.

I don't get how there are no repercussions for anything.  Let's take Sanchez for example.  Under no circumstances should he be bringing the ball up the court or catching the ball on the wing.

I've read this a couple of times and I don't understand why people are against Sanchez bringing up the ball. He isn't that slow, is he as fast as some of the other players, no, but he will make better decisions. Its an advantage that he can initiate the fast break. If he waits to give the ball to another player it will allow the defense more time to get back.

He dribbles with his head down and passes the ball way too late. He had a couple nice passes leading the break against Wagner or Longwood or whoever. He wont be able to get away with it against BE teams and it showed the one time he tried yesterday against Xavier

Are you talking about the alley oop he threw to Gift? Should have been caught. No one else makes that play on this team.

Big +1

GG needs to catch that pass and dunk the ball. Branch went to the bench after that play and was never seen again.

Phil G does not turn the Basketball over, but Phil G also creates no shots for other players.

Dom was dished the ball 15 times? The guys really looking for him. Thing is what does Branch do with it.

If Branch is in, then he's the one dishing and the open guy  is either Jordan or Harrison.
I like that combination a lot better than if Jordan/Harrison are dishing to an open Dom.

Branch getting into the lane creates immeasurable opportunities for everyone else.   Literally every player on the team (including Max and Marco) is made better by Branch's penetration.   Now, Jordan or Harrison penetrate and  teams collapse on them because 1) those guys don't dish well, they often put their head down and go to the rim regardless, and 2) teams aren't afraid to leave everybody else open

Branch changes that dynamic because we have better scorers on the perimeter and he has the eye to get guys the ball in a position to score.

If ever there was a time when I wished the staff read the message boards, it would be now.
PLEASE LET BRANCH RUN THE OFFENSE.  It will make Harrison and Jordan 20pt scorers, easily.

He's never been allowed to play a full game this season.   Just once let him play 30mins and see what happens.

So long as PG4 is able to play, it will never happen.

That was one time, not a large enough sample to say he shouldn't be doing it, imo. We struggle to score in the half court set. Its imperative that we look to score with our early offense. If Sanchez waits to give the ball up to someone else there goes our fast break opportunity. I think he will be ok, lets see how he does these next few games.

Theres been a couple other times where he leading the break didnt work out well like that time a few games back he left his feet before knowing what he was going to do with the ball he wound up throwing it right to the other team. To say that waiting for him to pass the ball would end our fast break opportunity is simply false. That would mean that the only way to score on a fast break in basketball is by the guy who gets the rebound going coast to coast when in fact there are very very few big men capable of doing that in both college and the NBA. The fastest way to advance ball down the court after a rebound is by passing it not by dribbling it

There are also a few times when he successfully lead the fast break. Don't think its fair to omit those. I'm also not speaking about leading a fast break in basketball, I'm speaking about leading a fast break for SJU. If there is an out let pass to make that's one thing, but if there isn't a out let to make, I rather Sanchez lead the break opposed to giving it up to Greene, Harrison, or Sampson. He has proven to have better vision and a better decision maker than them.

What a shock.  He runs his mouth to the refs all game time to run it to the press.

Branch
Harrison
Jordan
Pointer
Sampson

That is an interesting starting 5 and actually I like it but rebounding may be an issue.

I don't get why Gift would ever start.  If you want to start Sampson and Sanchez and go with three guards,  I get because you could press try to run more.  But if want to start a big body, why not start CO?  I know he gives you basically nothing on offense, but neither does Gift.  And why the F wouldn't Jordan start every freaking game from here out.

Gift won't play that much. Who cares if he starts. I think he did ok in 1st half .
