What was more annoying?
A. Bobre infatuation with Sean Evans
B. Carmine infatuation with Avery Patterson
C. Carmine infatuation with the Circle
D. WASJU heroic attempt to champion Larry Legend's cause for more PT
E. MCNPA infatuation with Lavin
F. Bluto's infatuation with IONA

I think the majority of posters actually agree with Carmine's basic premise.  But, yeah, this has run it's course..for sure.

It's is slowly approaching Bobre status, but at least Caemine is likable, no offense Bob..;)

I actually think you could have made more of a case for Evans getting more PT on that team than Greene playing more for this team.
Evans was dumb, but he was talented. Greene seems like a nice kid so that "basically agreeing" with thing is just people trying to be nice. It is actually criminal that Green took even a second away from Jordan. If Jordan was given the ball sooner like most of us wanted, he would have gotten to this point earlier in the season. I am not in love with Branch so I don't have an issue with Greene playing over him or splitting time but I would play Pointer more minutes than Greene and I would also go big over playing Greene. if I am coaching Harrison and Jordan play close to 35 a night.

It's past Bobre status IMO.  Because of those responses were inane and made no sense at all.  Least Carmine is firing back with figures.  Figures that don't have much meaning but still factual at least.

Greene can't really help much unless he's having a hot shooting night,

That's bull.  In the Providence victory,  which he started and helped set the tone with a great start, he had 4 pts, 4 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal and 1 blocked shot in only 18 minutes of play.  If he wasn't Costco...he was BJ's!

Slow day at the home office, so I decided to re-watch the first 4 minutes of the game to see if I misremembered Phil's amazing contribution to the big start. here's what he did:

Foul
Pass to JaKarr who missed an open jumper
Missed a layup in transition
Rebound, pass to Harrison on wing in transition- no basket
Turnover
Rebound, pass in transition to 3Lo who scored, no assist
Lost his man on D, man missed jumper
Subbed out after TV timeout

Also, if we're giving credit just for being on the floor when good things happen, we have to note that PG4 was on the floor for nearly all of the collapse and assign some blame, no?

By basic premise I was referring to the fact that Phil is not nearly as bad as many make him out to be.  He isn't awful, by any stretch, and deserves minutes as part of a 4 guard rotation.  Not starter minutes.  He can contribute if put in proper position to do so.

I mean, he is the focus of almost every thread after every game... He isn't that important, one way or another.

No one would ever be talking about Phil Greene if someone wasn't always talking about Phil Greene. I've stalked broads less rigorously than this.

If Greene were playing 12-15 minutes a night, would people complain about him and give him shaped nicknames? Probably not. But that is not what happened. He played too much, also out of position, did not produce nearly enough to warrant his minute. THAT is what everyone complained about. Carmine is railing against our complaints about what is actually occuring.

My big beef with Greene is that he holds onto the ball for too long. I could live with a turnover here and there from Branch because he makes quick decisions with the ball. When Greene gets it he holds.....he dribbles.....then he passes to the open man and it is too late. There was a stretch of 5 games where he didn't record an assist.

Is it possible that this is a habit that he's developed in this his junior year?  He had a team leading 97 assists his first year and a team second 85 assists last season.  Is it possible that a players decision making ability and ability to pass in a timely fashion regresses throughout his career?

What do the five worst starting point guards in Division 1 hoops all have in common? They lead their team in assists. Please stop quoting this fact and then saying you've defeated someone's argument. If you have the ball in your hands more than any other player, you're probably going to lead the team in assists. It doesn't make you a good passer.

Agreed. The team played awesome the other night( for the most part) and there is a small light at the end of the tunnel. Much rather talk about that.

As Boo said, we spend way too much time on a complementary player like Phil. The horse is well past dead, but keep beating on it.

That's one game. It's the exception. Let it be the rule, then we'll talk. He played well on Tuesday night, but 4 points and 4 boards. I hope he becomes a great spark when we get tight on offense, and stop moving around and going strong to the basket.

Two rebounds in 4 minutes of play.  That's ballin!  He left the game as it's leading rebounder.

And both of them can see Phil Greene is not very good at basketball.

I am not sure Phil should ever be allowed to play one on one. W/o a shot clock or teamates he might just go on dribbling to eternity
