Or Quincy.  Or perhaps someone else... we don't know.  Ty is a long athlete, even if his instincts aren't where they need to be; If he's a decent passer as KOB says he is, that might have more value than yet another wing in Quincy.  Even if I think Q's game has potential.

And besides, for the good of the team, one of the sophomores/ nearly juniors needs to leave or redshirt.  A step toward bettering the scholarship situation.

Does "redshirting" free up a scholarship in Basketball ?

I thought a "Medical Redshirt" only grants an extra year to the
player (Mason) but no extra scholarship to the team

Redshirting does not free up a scholarship.  Leaving does.  But redshirting would mean that one less player would graduate in 2011, leaving another experienced player on the roster for that once-again massive freshman (and hopefully JUCO) incoming class.

Staff should drop Quincy and bring in two ball handlers.
Hopefully, Lance and Malik.

you're putting words in my mouth. again.

I'm talking about kids who brag about being good enough to turn SJU around, and then take the easy, forgettable way out by leaving town.

Is Lance going to Kansas for the academics? Clearly not. No one does.

Lance won't be anything special at Kansas. Another poster, on some board mentioned that Wilt Chamberlain went to Kansas. What's Lance going to do that Kansas hasn't seen in their distant and recent past?

If he goes there, he's just a compiler, and who will remember it?
How many guys on Kansas' 08 national championship team will people remember? Zero.

There are very few D Wades, Melos and Deron Williams around, but look at what they did by not choosing the easy top ranked choice.

Hopefully he doesn't enjoy his visit to LaSalle as much.  We need another PG.

I couldn't find any current info, but I thought Karon Burton was sitting out this past season at LaSalle as a partial qualifier. If that indeed happened, not sure why Stith would want to be there with another point guard with the same amount of eligibility remaining.

LaSalle? Why would he go play there over St Johns? Am I missing something?

LaSalle is gonna be a nice squad next year with Aaric Murry. Maybe hes motivated by more playing time, a bigger impact on the team, who knows?

Do any sources believe he can be a starting PG in the Big East?

hes not gonna start over malik..he'll be good added depth at the position..ESPN ranks him at an 87 which they described as a solid contributor to a high major school and eventual starter. And espn usually ranks conservatily. He'll have solid development next season and will start when Malik graduates.

I like the fact that Malik preformed well at his prep school and earned some MVP recogition vs decent talent (not saying it BE calaber).

The whole point is to improve, and it'll be tough to do that if the new Malik can't beat out the old one.
