Tough to foul when you let every player blow past you.

But carry on

total fouls?  Why is this important in the slightest?  What does the amount of fouls one commits  have to do with anything.

...and yeah, what Moose said.   Does this mean Max the Hooper is our best defender?  Please, explain.

Judging by the author of this thread, I would guess he is trying to show how Phil also doesn't foul a lot in terms of his total minutes played.

He doesn't do a lot out there in the so many minutes he plays.

People wonder why he gets a bad rap?  Posts like this thread.

Good guards on good teams:
Tyler Enis 42
Quin Cook 43
Shabazz Napier 51
Nick Johnson 43

25 is a ridiculous low number. Couple that with his lack of free throw attempts and now you can call Greene soft to go along with all his other issues.Even Carmine is turning on him.

This is why some label other posters as haters because they get pushed into saying disparaging things about some of our players or coaches because of the over the top superlatives thrown around by other posters. Case in point-Marillac calls Amir incredible-I disagree-hence I am a hater of Amir. Quite frankly I have never hated any of our players or coaches-I save my hate for violent felons. Doubt other posters hate any of our players or staff either.

Greene's low turnovers and low foul numbers indicate a player that is very risk-averse.   Normally I'd say that's a good thing, but he takes it to the extreme.   He needs to use his athleticism to his advantage.   Be more physical on D, and drive to the hoop.
For all the crap we give Phil, he's shooting much better from behind the arc, and has  a very impressive mid-range game of floaters and pull-ups.   Use them!

Does this say anything about the quality of an individual's defense?  I could see it being a component of a multi-factor analysis, but on its own I think total fouls is a useless and potentially misleading stat.  On the one hand, it's bad to commit silly fouls but low numbers could indicate that defensive intensity is weak.

Gary "THE GLOVE" Payton, former NBA defensive player of the year in an average of 30 college games per year averaged 104 fouls a season. By Carmine's logic he should give both his defensive player of the year award and his nickname back. I guess it is a good thing Louie dropped the ball with him after all.

I considered posting this clip on the PHIL GREENE IS THE BEST DEFENSIVE PLAYER IN COLLEGE BB HISTORY ALL CAPS EXCLAMATION POINT thread but in the end decided it wasn't worth the effort.
