I think we match up very well with Nova. I think two big keys will be getting a body on Pinkston down low and making sure Bell doesn't get open looks. If we do those two things well I think we win. Nova is a tough team but with the way we are playing I think we will win on the road Saturday.

So you're saying we need to shut down their two leading scorers and we'll win?

I think that's been the strategy of every team they played this year, but only two have beaten them, so maybe its tougher than it sounds. I don't think we match up well with them at all up front..Pinkston is a beast, and Ochefu is huge. I can see them killing SJU inside. Hopefully we shoot the lights out and they don't rain threes.

I think you're right on when assessing down low play.  Team rebounding will be crucial.  All 5 need to be very active on the boards and with loose balls.  The hustle has been there, so I expect to see it again. Clamping down the perimeter creates the need for extra hustle #NoBoAgee #BoKnowsRain

When was the last time we beat them and when was the last time we beat them at Nova?

The fans at the Garden are ready for them as they chanted "we want Nova".

2011 we beat them at Nova.
Pounded them. Opened it up 2ed half and continued to pull away. Coach Jay did not effect the outcome.

i was at that game. we shot lights out in the first half.  i think it was Hardy's best game.  had 34 points.  it'll take a team effort this time around.

Yep. If anything, I would have told them the road back to a 14 win season is a short one, and I'll be spitting on them when we pass them on their way back down.

Apparently Nova fans think we are delusional.

I agree with them      :idiot2:

Not sure how anyone who's watched all of our games would laugh at the notion that we are playing like the best team in the league right now. Top 2 are Crieghton and Nova. Creighton we just beat and played tough at their place. Nova was just smacked by Creighton. Right now, I have no problem saying we are just as good as Nova and Creighton. Our record is worse, yes. But we are a different team.

Agreed, we are a different team. Think we need to beat Nova to say we are just as good as them. If not we will be 1-3 against the top 2 teams. If we lose to both Nova and Xavier, we will be 1-5 against the top 3 teams in the BE. The next 2 games will prove a lot IMO.

Arrogance that's all. Creighton spanked them both times and we split with them. Also Nova beat us at MSG but the fact that we failed to execute down the stretch was just as big of a reason why we lost.

To say that we are not one of the hottest teams in the country is silly. We went from no shot in hell making the tournament to no longer being a bubble team and rising (as of right now).  I hope they continue to not take us seriously that only works to our favor. This isn't a must win but it would take a hell of a lot of pressure of the team so I am expecting that we continue to play with a chip on our shoulder.

Take it easy.. We are winning games we should be winning..  Take out Nova and then we can talk a bit more.   Part of being a great college basketball team is consistency. Bringing it every game.  We have had a very good 9, 10 games now in a row.     We took care of Creighton, now lets do the same to Nova. Until then, they have every right to look down on us and mock.  We would do the same...

I predict a win if Mike Maher shows up early for the game.

I think we lose on Saturday because of the gaping hole created by Obekpa's absence.  Anyone who thinks we don't miss a beat with how CO has been playing of late is nuts.  We can manage it for stretches, but I don't know if we can deal with Nova's frontline and general ability to attack the glass without CO's presence.  Hope I'm wrong.

While a win would be great, this is a house money game for us to an extent.  Even if we lose, but take care of the next 3, then we are likely in the dance regardless of the BE tournament.  A win against Nova obviously changes that dynamic.  But this is a road game against a really good team that would be difficult to win even at full strength.

Xavier game without CO actually concerns me more.  The big guy and some of Xavier's forwards could give us a lot of trouble with CO's presence.

I think people have brought up a lot of good indicators of why we will/won't win on Saturday... Obekpa, good D on Achadiacopamus, D'angelo hitting his shots.. etc.

But I think, at the risk of over-simplifying things, there are two items  we should be looking for on Saturday afternoon:

1) Are we making the extra pass?   Or are we settling for contested jumpers?

2) Are we winning the foul game?

If I'm Rafferty, those are my keys to the game.   If we're not putting them on the line, and we keep working the ball inside like we have been... then I think we have an excellent shot to win.     My concern is that we'll be overly aggressive, Nova will get some favorable calls, and we'll be passive on the perimeter swinging the ball around.

Hope nerves don't get the best of Jordan.  Playing in Philly, you know he will have a ton of friends and family..

There's no Randy Foye on this Nova team. We can beat them.
