4 out of 10 teams isn't bad.

The league will be judged based on ncaa performance.  If we get two in the sweet 16 it will be a good year.

Personally feel Nova only one of BE four capable of making elite eight.

The reality is that the new Big East is not considered a good conference at all by the people who count, the selection committee.

AAC..... 6 bids
Atlantic 10..........6 bids
The Big East.....4 bids

PC tourney champ........an 11th seed??
Xavier (third place finisher)  a 12th seed and playoff game???
St. John's third place finisher.....LEFT OUT???   in what other tear would a third place Big East Team be left out of the NCAA tourney......    the writing is on the wall

AAC got 4

Louisville is leaving and we will poach the best 2 from A10

But don't let that stop you from searching for a different team to root for.

We will poach the best two from the A10?  When did that news come out.  In terms of who I root for.  Unlike yourself I am a true St. John's fan.  Not a Lavin fan, conference fan etc. I root for and will criticize things when necessary when what I believe is best for St, John's.  In terms of rooting for another team?  For someone who professes to be a St. John's fan but follows a "yesman" mentality", when are you ever going to be a fan to begin with?

Need to get vcu and St. Louis. Would trade either for Wichita but don't think they'd come, though I could be wrong about that.  BE will be better than AAC next year

Adding butler when you thought Stevens would be there was the right decision.

Conference will be fine in 1-2 years. Reasons:
1.  2 strong programs had poor years, GT and Marquette, they will be fine
2. Butler and Xavier had poor and mediocre years, they usually are better.
3. Nova is nearly always good
4. SJU should be good, program on upswing even if this season was a disgrace
5. Hall will not be bad in 2 years due to recruits
6. Creighton usually pretty good, without McD hard to say in near future
7. Providence has a great coach and is on the upswing
That is 9/10 good to VG programs. (DePaul may get better if conference improves but they have been awful for a long time)
I see parity, a strong conference with few Elite teams in the near future but a lot of potential 10-50 teams.  5-6
get in next year (a great %)
UNFORTUNATELY IM KNOWN AS AN ETERNAL OPTIMIST :) :) :)

Well it's a failure in two ways.

One it's not nearly as deep or competitive.

Second they were dumb enough to go with FS1 and not ESPN so ESPN will BURY the Big East whenever they get the chance (see the most recent ESPN 30 for 30 which was basically a post-mortem) and promote whoever's paying them.

Hopefully they recruit a squad like Wichita and start building but then again it's fleeting - schools like Wichita do well and then the big schools poach their coach and it's rebuild time.  See Butler.  You really need to have power schools that are always good to be a power conference.  Who does the new Big East have?  Villanova, and maybe Creighton.

Forget Creighton.  McDermott is a senior.
