Sampson's idea of going to NBA (or at least declaring) was confirmed before Big East Tournament.  No, he did not get into a fight with Lavin or quit on the program.  Kid wants to get paid for his talent.  If not NBA it will be Europe or whatever place that will pay.
Hoopers transfer is no shocker either.  Kid is not a Big East caliber player.  His intention is to be a coach.
Hooper admires Dunlup's work.  He will end up at Loyola Marymount with him.  First as a player and after that most likely as an assistant.
Hoopers departure has nothing to do with Lavin or his dislike for SJU.  His best bud Sampson is leaving and he will follow his passion.
Another + is he is from LA and his father will be right around the corner.
You guys need to come down one bit.
Most important info is that:
Obekpa-Harrison and most important Jordan are all coming back.

Also, since most of you didn't like what you seen this year hopefully we will have few guys that are under the radar (2* 3*) or JUCO players that can give us some joy next year.
2015- Diallo and Brisco are still on track to live in Queens.
Heads up boys.

Sorry, but reasonable analyses are not allowed when it comes to the program spiraling out of control.

For as good as Lavin has done on the recruiting trail there have been a few top guys that were "on track" to be committing here but ended up elsewhere. For a while it looked as though we were in the driver's seat for Kyle Anderson and he went to UCLA. We were on track to get Whitehead but we know what happened there. If that were to happen with Diallo and Briscoe we would be in huge trouble starting with the 15-16 year. We are going to have to replace practically the entire roster. If we don't land one or both of these bona fide studs it will take us 2 or 3 extra years for us to be relevant and win

When did Hooper start admiring Dunlap?  He's only be at SJU for two years and Dunlap wasn't around for either year.

If what you say is true.. and things work out, I'll be the first to applaud coach Lavin.   But as of now, those are just hopeful predictions.   But every event lately seemingly suggests that things aren't going well.  So it shouldn't be surprising that fans are concerned/frustrated with the captain of the ship.

"Relaxed" Educated Assessment;

Like many teams that lose, there is probably a level of discontent among players.

Coach Lavin's relationship with our AD may not be as positive as one would like.

Program supporters of means are concerned about the state of program & leadership.

It is doubtful that we are well positioned to bring in 14 recruits of significance to complement DelaRosa, who I think we get. My sense is his brother Joey joins us & perhaps Lipscomb is given a scholarship. Being so late in the game, I don't think it fair to assume Coach L can bring in additional recruits who can help immediately. Transfers & decomits are another issue & could bear fruit I guess.

Just firing Lavin is not fair or financially practical, but management taking a strong stand on the terms and length of any extension is quite fair.

Hopefully things go forward positively, but to think everything is quite fine is inaccurate. There is a lot of work to be done to get the program on track for reasonable success. Hopefully Coach Lavin & all parties are committed to working non stop to achieve that. Without such effort we will remain irrelevant. Just my opinion.

Most kids will not announce before spring AAU starts.

These two have been the main focus for a while. They would be tremendous gets. I'm a huge fan of both.

I think in order for STJ to be a destination kids want to go to, Lavin has to find a way to
make next year a success. He's got to find a way to replace Sampson. Hopefully, a 5th year grad student will fall in our lap.

Or better yet, Lavin starts looking for one. Like now.

Nothing to relax about.  We are in bad shape for next year.  Lavin has to find a handful of guys that can really play and quickly.  No easy task.  An immediately eligible transfer would be nice, and maybe a diamond or two in addition to Delarosa and the kid from Orlando.

All well and good, Dave, but meaningless if they don't pick St. John's.  FY has been saying they've been coming for months now.  Would just like to see that come to fruition.

My sense is staff interest in Jay Henderson faded & Dayton in pursuit. Like his upside.
