Lavin needs to go asap. All this talk is an embarrassment

I thought you said It was a done deal Lavin is gone?

I would be shocked if Dlo left. I really think he wants to try to crack the top 5 all-time scoring leaders at St. John's.

I appreciate it when your sources tell you Lavin, Jordan, etc is leaving you inform the board of what you heard. However its rather curious that once that is no longer a matter of discussion amongst the parties involved (assuming it was one to begin with), you never break that news. Why is that? Does your source fail to mention that to you or do you fail to mention it to the board?  Its only fair to think if your source told you Jordan was gone, then he/she should have also told you that he wasn't leaving before it was obvious to everyone that he wasn't.

Easy to criticize and denigrate a post if you ignore the facts. Connecticut has an 8 % graduation rate. Period. No explanations. Fact. And Ollie can continued in the tradition of Calhoun. Check   http://www.allgov.com/news/top-stories/with-an-8-percent-graduation-rate-are-the-university-of-connecticut-basketball-players-really-students-140408?news=852868   Facts are facts. And those players did act like the rules don't apply to them. They blamed the NCAA for suspending the university for trying to get Connecticut to give a hoot about its players graduating. Judging by the continued lack of degrees during Ollie tenure, the suspension failed to send the message it was intended to. Instead Ollie and his players showed not remorse or understanding, but used the suspension as an us against them---see what happens world when you try to enforce your rules! There is no shame in that program, and it starts at the top.

I am no fan of UConn, but your view of that program is severely myopic.  It's true that UConn's suspension from 2013 postseason play stemmed from its APR not meeting the required criteria as a result of too many players having transferred out of or failed to graduate from UConn.   But the timeframe in which these transgressions occurred was the period of 2007 to 2011.  It wasn't the fault of the players on this year's team that the program was punished last year, and yet, the players from this year's team were, in effect, punished last year by not being permitted to play in the postseason.  So what did they do?  They stayed with UConn and with a first year coach last year, and for their perseverance and loyalty, were rewarded with a NC.   From the players' perspective, it isn't too hard to understand why the kids had chips on their shoulders.

You're not following along here. Kevin Ollie has nothing to do with the 8% graduation rate that you posted. He's been here for 1.9 years. There has only been one possible graduating class under him. If you're going blame Ollie for Roscoe Smith, then you might as well blame Lavin for Grady Reynolds.

The leadership of the STJ administration has caused embarrassing scandals far worse than anything Uconn has EVER done. I agree, it does start at the top, and we've seen how corrupt leadership can destroy a basketball program. Harrington fired Mike Jarvis on Dec 24th, and then when everything fell apart in Pittsburgh, he blamed the guy whom he fired 2 months prior. I don't think Lavin is such a bad guy. Just a bad coach. But don't start with this ethics crap at St.John's. We've done our share of dirty deeds.

Not fair to judge Ollie with kids who were not his recruits.  You'd have to wait for a full round of his recruits to come and go before looking at his grad rates.  You can blame the previous culture at UConn and Calhoun for those pitiful numbers and subsequent ban, but not fair to judge Ollie on that at this point.

Brandon Tierney is saying good news on the recruiting front is coming within a few hrs. Probably Delarosa right? Also says DLO isn't going anywhere

It appears so. Doling out recruiting news slowly seems to be strategy to calm things down. Besides DelaRosa brothers & probably Thomas, is there someone else of a better calibre in the wings?

If they think announcing the Delarosas and Thomas are going to calm things down they are sadly mistaken.
We didn't hire Lavin to sign 3* prospects when there are 6 open scholarships.

It's not a question of the star level. It's question of continuity. Sampson and Obekpa may not have played as well as we'd hoped they would have, but they've been here, and if Lavin is teaching them anything worth learning, by year 3, it should be sinking in. Now, we start over.

Devonte graham got his release from app state (what a brutally cold school!)

App St. finally released Devonte Graham from his LOI. Obviously we need bigs desperately, but he is a top 25 talent & with all our open scholarships, I would hope Lavin would call his coach and make a trip to Brewster for their upcoming open gym. There is probably no chance of this happening though and is just wishful thinking on my part.

Appalachian State releases Devonte Graham from letter of intent: http://cbsprt.co/1hC2IRc  He immediately becomes best PG on the market.

Good thing WE hired Lavin

Keep in mind there is not much choice at this point since 5 star recruits just are not available so it does not really matter who Lavin signs, by your definition they will suck.

And here all along I thought people just tried to find excuses to whine.  Silly me.
