So Phil Greene bangs back to back 3s and doesn't touch the ball the rest of the game. Instead a guy with 9 turnovers and another who shot 4-16 try to make things happen. Piss poor coaching
Greene led SJ in FG attempts. Piss poor trolling.

It hurts to lose this one.  I really, really like this team so much better than last season.  They compete...Harrison (and Jordan on some switches) shut down a 6'11 potential lottery pick for several minutes to close the game when Gonzaga was looking primarily to get the ball into him (and couldn't). That was the best post defense we've seen in over a decade, and it was by a 6'3 SG.  Holy sh*t.  You could have taken a picture of Dee fronting Sabonis and the support beneath by the help defender and put it in a how-to defensive book.

PGIV was big-time.  The kid doesn't miss on inside-out set shots.  We need to get him more looks.  He really competed for some big boards against much bigger guys.

Jordan has made a full season's worth of mistakes in two games.  That offensive goaltending was one of the worst plays I've ever witnessed.  The only person that can stop Jordan is Jordan.  He needs to pick his spots better.

Harrison needs to be smarter on offense.  I've been his biggest shot-selection supporter for three years, but we finally have other options now.  Pick better looks from three, dude, or drive. You are nearly unstoppable driving.

Pointer...holy sh*t.  Four offensive boards!  This is what I wanted all  last year and it killed me watching him sitting on the perimeter because I knew he could do THIS.

Refs...really?  It was a foul on Dee, but the kid also flopped his ass off.  You just don't make that call 40 feet from the basket when a team is down by three with 30 seconds left.

Myles Stewart, young man, don't you ever watch a missed three pointer like that again.  That five-point swing cost us the game.

Disapointed.     I thought the 5 Johnnies were better athletes.  We like to stand outside the 18ft circle and watch our team mate take the "J". The only second shots came from long rebounds, one and done. Gonzaga had a great insde game that we had few answers for. We should have taken this game,  Go Redmen!!

Right, he led the team in shots. As opposed to "doesn't touch the ball the rest of the game."

This game was lost by their failure to adjust to the zone when Obekpa got his fourth foul.  They went scoreless for five minutes and just passed the ball around the perimeter.  I think it was due to the unusual lineup not having a lot of experience playing against a zone together, but they better get used to it.
Four guards and a SF should destroy a zone.  Both Dee and Greene have fantastic set shots when the ball is kicked out to them from the inside.
One thing that gives me hope is that we were within one shot of the #10 team in the country (and a matchup nightmare) with Jordan not hitting his jumper and committing a ton of turnovers.  It seems hard to believe both will happen out of him with another 30 games under his belt.

He led the team in made shots

he had the ball in his hands up until our last offensive possession, which last 11 seconds, 10 of which were in Harrison's hands (1st Team BE 2013-2014, 1st Preseason BE 2014-2015).

He led the team in made shots

The most field goal attempts by a SJU player was 16.

Phil Greene had 16 field goal attempts.

Therefore Phil Greene led SJU in field goal attempts.

If Phil Greene led the team in FGA he did not "not touch the ball the rest of the game."

Can we play better. Sure. But the team was prepared tonight, played hard, and was in it to the end against a great team that was well coached and posed a nightmare match up for us. We won't play many teams where Sabonis comes in when we negate the opposing front line. The naysayers and nattering negativists will post their usual tiresome nonsemse, but hey SJU fans, we got a team we can be proud of. This will be a fun season.
