This seems all too familiar...Nurideen Lindsey. Kid gets labeled an NBA type player and things go downhill. I hope he doesn't go down the same road. Jordan is still years away from the pros and needs to grow up. I hope this is like Harrison's time away from the team and he comes back in the right mindset.

With all due respect, Jordan is very different from Nuri.  Nobody bashed Nuri's pro prospects more than Marillac, but Jordan has some undeniable NBA qualities.  The problem is that he won't realize them in time for the 2015 draft regardless of how well he performs.

I agree, but if Jordan leaves via transfer there is no guarantee of this amount of playtime anywhere else or if he goes pro he will go 2nd round or undrafted and fight the uphill battle of being an NBA player.

This whole thing is a disgrace and it is time for answers. Why does the school and Lavin constantly hide the problems with this kid? Lavin loves to take credit for how he makes these athletes become solid young men and all he has done is hurt this kid. This kid obviously comes from a horrid background but from day one Lavin has babied him (and those in the know really know how much he's given him.) It's way worse than you can imagine). Rysheed needed someone to get into him and teach him right from wrong. Whether you liked it or not, Lavin did that with Harrison and it seems to have worked. It's too late now with Jordan and now the whole team is going to suffer. I'm disgusted by what has been happening with the program lately and quite frankly can't wait for the day Lavin is gone. I was right there as Jarvis destroyed the program and Lavin is getting very close to doing the same. I'm also tired of these wimpy writers. Someone have the balls to call him out and stop being scared of Lavin not answering your questions. They all have pulled the same crap with any of our coaches. Lavin said it best when he stated there is no pressure to win here. The NY media is so soft on these guys and lets them skate through because they use this job as a stepping stone and don't want to turn any feathers. On that note, I hope these seniors rally together and beat the piss out of Butler tomorrow.
The sissyfication of America. You blame the coach here? Rysheed Jordan has been prancing around like an entitled diva for two seasons. It didn't start here either...look at the end of his game against Austin in the Philly public school league...it was disgusting how he acted. This is the only chance Lavin has to have this kid and this team reach the ceiling of play. He selfish play has been killling this team. He had two turnovers that led to open threes against SH and his stupid tech took away a 5-4 possession, led to two made fts by SH, and then a three pointer. That is a potential seven point swing in a matter of twenty seconds. He did his best to hand the Syracuse game away as well. Jordan needs to swallow his pride...fall in line...and get on the same page as the rest of the team. Hopefully we beat Butler handily and improve to 2-0 without him to send him a message he so sorely needs to receive.
No one is saying Jordan is innocent. These are Lavin's players. I don't care what the F they do, as long as they win. Lavin sees himself as a teacher. I'd like him to cut that shit out. Win. I don't care who plays, or at what expense the winning comes. That's why he's here, and that's why he shouldn't be here next year.

Oh, I blame Rysheed Jordan big time.  But Lavin has let him get away with whatever he wanted from the moment he signed on.  Like Baldi says, where were the other big time programs?  Ask anyone who knew Jordan from HS and they won't be surprised by what has happened.  Lavin needed to give him this suspension last year.  Instead he blew Felix's redshirt and let the kid come back.  Anyone who knows how much this kid has gotten away with over 2 years, knew this was bound to happen.  Lavin should have brought in another point guard this year just in case but god forbid he went and recruited.

Who let him be a diva for two years and gave him a different set of rules to play by?
Who didn't notice the traits you saw so clearly in HS?

Let me be clear, of all of coach's transgressions I blame him less for this than most people will.  Young kids, especially spoiled athletes, can have major character  defects that society wouldn't ignore if they were a step or two slower or couldn't put a ball in a net.  But they can do awesome things on the field or court, so we brush it under the rug.  Certainly not Lavin's fault.  Rysheed has been given every chance to turn his life around, and he keeps doing his own thing.

But at the end of the day, Steve Lavin is the one tasked with managing the program, and for one reason or another he keeps failing at that.
I blame him for the overall lack of control and development.   One bad apple wouldn't be his fault, but you can look at this from a number of angles and see how it fits within a larger pattern of disfunction.

IMO, I believe the seniors had a say in him being suspended. Yes I know they believe it would hurt them because he's talented but I believe they grew tired of his act.  I have seen stuff like this in past where a talented kid is a huge headache.

It's their last season and believe they feel it's best to move on at this point.  My only hope is the kid gets some talking to by his mom and she talks with Lavin.  From there I would let the team decide if he should be  allowed back.  Have the guys talk to him and if he can't buy into what his friends on team are saying then it's on him to either work hard or be just another college player who did nothing with his career.

Lavin has notoriously recruited sketch balls and his current team is no different then his teams at ucla.  Unfortunately we as fans are being let down like the UCLA fans years ago.

Only way this kid should ever put on an sju uniform again is if players want him there.

Great post and his only chance to come back.
If he ever did come back, let's also make him keep his crew as far away as possible.  I don't see that happening but I guess crazier things have happened.

This reminds when Jarvis was considering having player entourages forcibly removed from Alumni Hall by security. IDK if they should be forcibly removed but I would suggest using the night stick w regularity.

A couple questions about this mess - let's say we had some actual depth on the team this year where losing Sheed wouldn't hurt so much, would he have been gone for the whole season? Also, if the team plays well here without him will the team/coaches welcome him back whenever he's supposed to return or will they tell him to just stay away?

Seems to me like the only reason he hasn't been booted for the remainder of the season is that Lavin fears the team might struggle w/o Jordan and is leaving the door open for a return if that is the case. Lavin doesn't have the luxury of time or the leash that he had when he suspended Harrison for the season 2 years ago

I've only read the first page of this thread, so I'm not sure what's all been stated.  I'm sure this has been stated, and that is Jordan is a pain in the anus.

Another poster and I knew about some complications concerning Jordan a season ago.  I'd give Henderson some burn.  Deal with folks who'll buy in.

Hopefully, Jordan gets his act together.

I really think Lavin or the next coach should go the way of not pursuing the kids like we have been, so many issues. Go to 3 star , 4 year players and with the right mix of transfers we would be more stable and year to year alot better off.

You always go for the right blend, but you don't throw the baby out with the bath water.  You continue to go after the blue-chip kids, if you have a chance.  You may have to stay away from the one's with major red flags.
