Do you think St John's will make the NCAA tournament this year?

The team seems to be losing any pre-season momentum it had.  What is the mood of the board?

Not happy or confident. Don't blame it all on Lavin, but the buck has to stop somewhere. I think Rico or Chiles could have done a better job with Jordan, or one of the 27 other coaches could have built a relationship with him.  As for assistants don't know who does what but during games besides Whitesail they are very much spectators.

it's unlikely. and the Lavin is the only one to blame.  our guys are good enough to make the tournament, WITH bench help.  Lavin screwed us by not recruiting Big East talent for the bench.

Who would have thought 2, 3 or 4 years ago that we were looking at another NIT bid after seeing all the players/recruits that were here. Even a month ago it looked like we just needed to avoid a collapse to not make the tournament. And now we have to go on a big run to get back into consideration.

I think this team might not be 500 in the BE, so no, I don't see the tournament happening this year.

Or at least get to the BET finals by beating Nova along the way, assuming we are near the bubble at that point and at least 500 in conference.  Very tall orders IMO

Wouldn't have to win the big east. Just can't lose to teams less talented then us . Their are plenty of possible wins left .

Need to beat Marquette and Creighton, that's not an option. If we beat those two we are back in the game. If we don't we are digging too deep of a whole and will have to win the BE Tournament. The nice thing is with less teams we actually have a shot at winning the tournament unlike in previous years.

At this point, we have to be shooting for 9-9 in conference and a win in the BE tournament.  I think that will put us on the right side of the bubble.  They need to go 4-2 or better in their next 6 conference games to be in position.

Actually, looking at the RPI Wizard on rpiforecast.com, we might need to win at least 2 RPI top 50 games as well.  If we don't and go 9-9  by beating up on Creighton and Marquette, plus win against a middle of the pack team in the BE tournament, our RPI will be about 50 with a top 20 SOS.  That screams first four out to me.

Win our 5 remaining games against Depaul, Creighton, and Marquette, and go 5-4 in the other 9.  That gets us in the tournament easy.  4-5 likely still get us in.  Keep in mind, the 9 non marq/dep/creigh games are all against teams in the top 31 (as of now) of the RPI.

I think 21 wins and they're likely in, 20 wins and it's toss up.  Can this team go 9-7 over the last 16 games (or 9-6 over 15 games if they lose first round of BET)?  I think it's possible.  They will have to beat some good teams (and probably pick up at least one road win at a team like xavier/butler/gtown/nova) but I wouldn't bet against harrison this season.

I feel we can only afford to lose 3 to 4 more big east games.

I predict that we lose 4 of next 6 and finish up 17-14 6-12. Jordan leaves the program sometime before the BET and we lose in opening round.
 
We host 1st round game of NIT at Louie arena and in close game against NJIT, Obekpa refuses to renter game and instead goes to get a Hot Dog. We lose by 1 as Felix Balamu's three pointer dents backboard at final buzzer. Lavin claims he had a good look and in practice his misses are usually much closer to the rim.

The board is in an uproar as everyone unanimously clamors for Lavin to be fired and NJIT coach Engles to be hired. The one holdout is Baldi who now claims Lavin is the best SJU coach since Norm.

Lavin manages to save his job by landing Diallo, Lovett and Enriqo Pallazo from Italy. In addition Obekpa returns and De Larosa is ruled eligible.
Before the first game Lovett is ruled ineligible, ADR gains 100 pounds and Pallazo is kidnapped.
SJU loses 1st round of NIT  game to NJIT again as Obekpa refuses to renter game becuase he was going for his high score on candy crush and Delarosa left the bench to go to coney island for a couple hot dogs.

Diallo and Sampson turn pro and are each drafted in 2nd round.
Lavin claims he has sent more players to the NBDL than any coach in SJU history.

It seems like we go one step forward and two steps back. It looks like we found a 7th man in Amir and then Harrison gets hurt. Harrison will get healthy and then  something will happen to Jordan...This team can make the tournament it's just a matter of getting their act together and not trip over themselves, which seem to be their biggest hurdle.
