Georgetown Game 1
« on: February 15, 2015, 01:52:03 PM »
Interesting note:  Georgetown will have had a week off before this game.  They also get a week off before game 2.  Conspiracy!
A loss here doesn't kill us, but a win would be tremendous.

Agreed.  It's a tough place to win at on the road, and It'll be interesting to see how we handle Smith, but I think we can pull this one out if we keep shooting like we have been the last few games.

Two days rest, and thats off a road trip. Wed. woulda been better. Branch should get more minutes for Dlo who's hurting, and Jordan who needs to nap. He's better at controlling pace when need be. Lately he's been looking like the senior he is. CO hurting and Dom coming off a 40 min. game. If Dom gonna help out center he really should get a blow. Harrison might not be up to cheating off his man down low, gatta be Jordan. This game could get us in. It would be a great spot for Jordan to be big time and forgo that nap.

I'm predicting big games from Rysheed and Phil.  They will key on stopping Dlo by denying him the ball and doubling as much possible.   Dom will be Dom.  Defense will be key.

Some snow in DC. Hopefully keeps some of their crowd away.  I will be there creating some noise for the good guys
When you're a kid from New York and you do it in New York, that lasts forever!

Agreed. Xavier was a nice win. I know they are a good team. Beating Georgetown is way bigger in my head.

hopefully game plays to form--Hoyas vs Prov and X: 0-4.  Redmen vs same: 3-0.  Hopefully our senior experienced guards offset their height advantage.  If Smith plays more than 23 minutes, I'll be surprised as he is going to get very winded trying to keep up.

Lol, I would imagine if he did, Arci's reaction would have been more than just checking his head for blood.  He would have been unconscious for quite a while.

Rebound and make some jump shots early. If so we will be ok.

I think we win tonight, and get out to the races faster than they do.

Johnnies 75, Hoyas 64

Harrison with a monster game. 27 and 11.
Dom drops 19 and pulls down 10 boards to go with 5 blocks.

Lavin benched CO the next game after the elbow at Butler. That might have been a handshake agreement with Big East. Sterling Gibbs should at least get one game.

Didn't he sprain his ankle that next game?

You are correct he hurt his ankle in the second half of Creighton game after being benched in the first half. Missed the Depaul game.

FWIW Georgetown is a 7 point favorite.  I think we either win straight up, or we fail to cover entirely.

How many times does this team show us a glimmer of hope and optimism before inconsistent play lead to disappointment?
The last two seasons have been a constant roller coaster.   I truly hope we're breaking that mold now and building towards something.
Going into the BE and the NCAA with momentum?   Earning our bid instead of being the best of the mediocre teams on the bubble would be a great feeling.
