Lavor had a better 4 year career. Dom has probably had a better single season than any of Lavor's seasons. Yet if we're talking about the entire 4 years, I'd probably give Lavor the edge. However Pointer has made the biggest improvement of any SJU player in 1 season that I can remember.
Lavor's junior season (Elite Eight year) was incredible.
He only played 27.1 mpg (compared to Dom's 34.1 this year):
13.1 Points per game
6.4 Rebounds per game (playing alongside Artest, Grant, Bootsy)
41.4% from three (41-99)
79.4% from FT line
44.4% from the field
.86 Steals per game
.90 Assists (lowest total in career, highest of 2.2 as a frosh pre-Barkley and Artest)
Dom this year:
13.1 ppg
7.4 rpg
2.4 blocks per game
2.0 steals per game
2.9 assists per game
.056% from three (1-18)
76% from FT line
53% from the Field
Judging careers isn't really close. Postell was a major cog on teams that went to three NCAA Tournaments, won the old Big East, and came a shot from the Final Four. Dom's awful, awful junior season takes him out of the discussion immediately but a lot of the blame has to fall on Lavin and Sampson.
Lavor's JR and SR seasons are much closer comparisons for Pointer's senior season. Would it be nice to have Lavor on this team...that would be a near lock for the Sweet 16.
