Can't we find a doctor to claim obekpa has cataracts and get this OKd? Ugh.

There's a bottle of juice at GNC that masks your piss.  I'm not even a smoker, but this is pretty common knowledge.
If you do sh*t "harder" than weed, then you have a problem.   But this is why nobody gets caught on a piss test for weed, you get the bottle of stuff from vitamin world or wherever.

Golden Seal Tea back in the day. Stuff was gross but it worked. I am sure since I gave it up they have made advancements in that kind of thing though.

I know there are pills or juices to mask it (like yourself, not a smoker, either), but all of 'em has different effects on testing, right?

Regardless, someone should've immediately took him to GNC or any, other vitamin store, and had him attempt to get cleansed.  LOL

We're in the tournament.   So stop that nonsense.

Also, Obekpa clearly deserves some of the blame

Some?

Well, the big kahuna did recruit a player who has consistently shown he places himself above the team.
And chose not to let him go or recruit over him for the past two seasons, even though that may have been appropriate.
SL is also tasked with chaperoning his players during the season.

So, yes.  "Some" of the blame lays with Chris O.

I've been on Obekpa's bad and attention seeking behavior - the shorts, the dopey grins, the finger wagging, jawing at referees, chippy play, dirty play, attempted murder - for a long while and critical of Lavin's failure to rein him in. I agree that in the long run the buck stops with Lavin and that with Obekpa especially he's done a poor job. But if Obekpa didn't misbehave, there wouldn't be any bad behavior to mitigate.

How do you (royal) allocate blame? You can blame the coach. And his parents. And society of course. Racism it goes without saying. And xenophobia. But people are capable of rising above these things. Some do. Most don't, which is why there are prisons and why there were, in more civilized times, gallows. It's entirely possible that CO is a bit of a sociopath, in which case it's not his fault at all, it's his genes. But I prefer to think that we (royal) have free will, and that with choice comes responsibility and consequences.

#$%^ this kid. Put him on a plane back to Nigeria. There is no way he should be able to wear a St. John's uniform after this.

Where is it written that if you fail a drug test for weed, which is given to patients in hospitals on every continent on this planet, that you get a 2 week suspension? If that was truly an arbitrary decision by Lavin, he needs to be fired today. He doesn't deserve to go to the tournament with this team.

Absolutely true.   There will be a time to add up all of Lavin's sins, but today is Obekpa's fault.  Assuming he is capable of weighing right and wrong.

Is he from Nigeria? Because I mean if he is not from there I am not sure he would want to go

Calm yourself chief.   Some things are off limits.
Some of us lost family that day.

Actually, sounds like a Final Four run.  Anyone who believes we'll see Obekpa again this season is also token.

What is the penalty for a positive drug test?

The penalty for positive tests of both performance-enhancing and street drugs is strict and automatic. Student-athletes lose one full year of eligibility for the first offense (25 percent of their total eligibility) and are withheld from competition for a full season. A second positive test for street drugs results in another lost year of eligibility and year withheld from competition. A second positive result for PED usage will render the student-athlete permanently ineligible.

What is the penalty for failing a school-issued drug test?

Each NCAA member is responsible for determining whether to establish an institutional drug-testing program, at which time the school would be responsible for determining applicable penalties. If a testing program is established, though, the school is obligated to enforce the penalties. Failure to do so can lead to NCAA sanctions.

So it is my understanding that a self imposed suspension would keep CO from losing a year of eligibility. Not sure if he would lose that eligibility this year or next.

What a total dissapointment. I was so pumped for the selection. Not anymore.

So he would probably be ok with it if Nigeria has the same quality weed as Queens
