Yes if you assume every good player we have will leave but I feel we need to stop assuming CO/and or Jordan will go pro. There is nothing from their game that would warrant that conclusion. Last year when CO was considering leaving SJU it was to transfer, not go pro. Every time we land a top 100 kid he's leaving after 1-2 years. I recall reading posts suggesting Harrison would be leaving early. We need to stop that. There are more top 100 kids who stay all four years than leave early and go pro, that's the reality. RJ and CO are not pro players at this point in their careers, they will be back next year. If I'm wrong, then I'm wrong. But until then leaving is for certain, I'm looking at CO, Jordan, and Sampson, a eligible Delarosa, Amir with a year under his belt.
I don't assume every good player is leaving, unfortunately things go on with this program that are left unexplained ... not that I deserve an explanation. To my understanding CO and PG4 did leave last spring, and had to be recruited back. And they weren't going pro ... they were transferring. How bad must things be for someone like PG4 who was entering his senior year to transfer. Willing to sit out a year, just to play one more year. You have already seen all these mystery problems with RJ. He misses games with issues like a toothache or stomach ache, or problem with his family. I am not saying that these issues aren't valid, but when you see these things happen on a regular basis, doesn't it make you wonder what is going on, and what shoe is going to drop next.
I hope everyone stays, and I don't have any information that tells be they will leave, other than the what seems to be the strangest behavior of any class of St John's students that I can remember.
You said that you don't understand where the thought that "we will be starting over" originates, and I am explaining why I think that way. I think there are a lot of posters here who won't believe that our returning players and new players will be here next year, until the start of next season, because lately you just never know with this program.
