Just a guess, but I think he gets the axe tonight or in the morning so it could be absorbed by the NCAA tourny

Why would the school want to bury that news?

Because I think there is more to the story

I don't get it. There's more to this coach firing than just the run of the mill firing? Care to elaborate?

A conclusion today or in 2 weeks doesn't make a difference in a basketball sense. The only people crying are diehard fans and local media which shouldn't dictate what the school should do.

I have disagree with this a little. I see what ur saying we have a ton of holes to fill and if we hire a new coach he's going to need to start recruiting right away. If we extend Lavin I don't think it's as big a deal but if we hire someone new and recruits decommit we could be starting walk ons next year, be very ugly season. Worse then Marquette was this year possibly, again I probably splitting hairs but I think it matters.

What coach is going to make up a gap in recruiting in 2 weeks?

Kid aren't playing, they aren't evaluating.

It isn't signing period.

People just need to relax and let things run their course.

I think the longer this goes on the more it feels like they are just negotiating with Lav. If they were set on firing him I think they would have done so already.

How long was it before they fired Norm?

+1

I'm just as frustrated as everyone else and keep checking for news.  However, Dave (as usual) is right.  It's kind of a big decision here so I'd rather they not jump the gun either way.  An extra day or two will not be fatal to the program, but the wrong decision on this could be.

Yeah me too. New coach will suck and we will be at the bottom of a watered down BE and everyone will hate Cluess or Mass and you will be defending them and calling the fans killing the coach "bad fans" . It is the circle of life for an SJU fan post Louie

We also need to keep in mind that Lavin's overall track record at St Johns is the best since the beloved Coach C. Firing a guy after making the NCAA's will not go over well with everyone.

Steve Alford made the Sweet 16 this year. i'm sure UCLA fans are very happy with the season he's had.

Since we have as many NC's as they have, we should have the same demands going forward.
