I'm asking why we parted ways. What would have been the downside to keeping him as a walkon?I don't see UL giving him a scholi in the future.

He seems like he is good enough to get a scholarship somewhere. I would rather actually play and not pay for school . His life. Good luck to him .

I'm gonna assume Hark meant from a scholarship standpoint.  Maybe, Pitino told him that he'd receive a scholarship if warranted.

You redshirt so you don't waste a year on the bench when no mins are available. So I would think he redshirted because the idea was he would get mins this year when 4-5 guards left the program.

Due respect PMG, but you seem to be taken very glass half empty negative approach with everything we do these days. Usually not your style with SJU or the Hall (which had lots to be negative about these days). You upset with the million hire?

He's chasing dreams and respect him for that but unlikely he'll ever be more than a walk-on. It's an easy risk for a coach to take.

Not at all, I think the team will be better then people think.

If anything, I have and will continue to be much quieter on the posting front.

It is what it is but just seems to me this board has a growing number of SJU "experts" when in fact 85% have no clue what is going on.

Which is exactly why I take everything I read with a large grain of salt save for a few posters (such as yourself pmg).
