There couldn't of been a more detailed, well written article that encompassed the Mullin era to date. Zach is a phenomenal beat writer and we're lucky to have him.

I guess that's true.  Zach is productive and giving information to the casual fan that will hopefully sell tickets and generate buzz.  I've been hard on  him regularly because I'll never learn anything from anything he writes, but that's because I spend so much time on the boards where news is broken before it's even news.

Putting the past aside, I can tell you first hand that Zach, not only has a passion for hoops, but also has an excellent working relationship with the current staff.

Posters need to separate Zach's criticism of Lavin  from their determination that he's "tough on SJU".    They're not the same thing.

Dink,  do you disagree?     Just because a reporter highlights the glaring faults in a coach doesn't mean he's out to get the program.

I don't believe he's out to get the program, either.  But the potshots and continuing to speak like a jilted spouse comes off petty and childish.

Maybe that's the tradeoff with him being so accessible to fans.

Desco, zach has flat come out and said, on twitter, that he did not like lavin because he wasn't very good to him. Zach has also said he isn't a fan of sju he is a fan of the ny post. Lavin didn't give him the details he wanted and mullin/his staff does.  They are better for business and his own personal gain than lavin was.  With that knowledge the lavin smear campaign is 100% petty and childish. If you follow him on twitter he takes a lavin pot shot literally every chance he possible has, it's actually incredibly annoying. The dude got fired, he wasn't nice to you, it's over so get over it.

I'm not sure where Lavin and Zach had a fall out but somewhere, somehow and Zach developed a strong dislike for him. He was not shy in letting his personal feelings be known through twitter or his writing. I'm friends with Zach and  he does a really great job in all his coverage but I did not like the way he lashed out at Lav. He's certainly entitled to act however he wants but I think he crossed the line at times and just refused to let go.

A reporter should not be a "fan" of any program. Journalism 101.
