The "out" referenced in Zags tweet refers to Marcus being definitively "out" for the rest of this year, as a partial qualifier.  Has nothing to do with him leaving the program.  I've heard nothing but good things on that front.

Any possibility of a pre-Christmas miracle?

Would love to have him eligible for 2nd semester. We would be a different team against BE competition, esp. if Ellison and Williams get healthy.

A totally different team.  Our backcourt would go from struggling to very difficult to stop.  Mussini's time at PG has helped him a lot.  Move him over to SG and we can't be pressured the same way.  Add a healthy Ellison to that backcourt and Williams up front and we can be a spoiler for some teams.

So Dec 20th against NJIT could be his first game...

Hoping to get Marcus back soon. Met him at tip-off, he's a great kid and is hungry to get out and compete. He would greatly help out the team and open up more opportunities for players. He would take the ball-handling pressure off Federico and let him be more of a shooter. He would also help the big guys down low like Yankuba, CJ, and Yakwe. Hope to see Marcus back on the court soon.

St.John's personal liaison to the NCAA, Ron Artest, would have straightened this out by now.

Zach B;

And as @JPPelzman tweeted, there is realistic hope Marcus LoVett will get cleared next week after first semester grades are out. #sjubb

i love these highlights, but given our biggest weaknesses the last few years, i'd be more excited at seeing run a half-court offense.

I think he'd absolutely improve our halfcourt offense.  Part of the issue we were having is running offense too far from the rim because Mussini struggled with on ball pressure.  It looks like Lovett will be able to handle it better and as long as he buys into sharing the ball as the rest of the guys have, he will absolutely improve he we play in the half court because we'll be able to get into our offense instead of worrying so much about press break and on-ball pressure. Our halfcourt offense will also be improved because by moving Mussini off the ball he should be able to be ran around screens more often to shake him loose.

Is this the NCAA's way of saving face --- claim that since his case was not clear and they did not receive all requested from the HS's they couldnt previously clear him, but in light of good grades in 1st semester of college, they are willing to give him beenfit of doubt or something like that so it doesnt seem like they just screwed him over from jump?

I hope the player gets what he wants. I can't see how playing 70% of the season with his future teammates would not be better for all concerned. Our program needs the best start possible both this year and next. It gets late early. Bless Yogi and Go Storm.

need him now.  WIth Ponds hopefully here next year and 3 years of recruiting left while he is eligible the 4th year is meaningless.  Mullin has already proven he can recruit and things will only get better.
