Marcus Lovett hopeful to get cleared

Our goose has been cooked.  It's going to get ugly in the 50th state. 

Id like to think we'll be thanking the ncaa five years from now.

I'd like to think that. Right now it's hard to do.

This didn't upset me at all . This is what happens to St. John's fans.

Take your head out of your ass. This didn't happen to Saint John's fans. It happened to a child. He can maybe vote, he can't drink, and he can't play college basketball. It has nothing to do with you.

They have four years to fill that scholarship slot.  We need him THIS year!

Well, this season just went from crappy to nightmare.   Was really excited to see Lovett do his thing...   Hopefully he's still here next year.   I wouldn't count on it, because, well, .....St John's

I'm so pissed right now that I'm literally shaking. I'm convinced that the ncaa has it out for us, they freaking hate us and every chance they get they'll make sure to F us over.
But you know what, it'll all be ok.  We all know that Mullin isn't a quitter, and this will make him even more on a mission to win it all (if that's possible). When SJU does win it all, then the NCAA can shove it up their asses. I'm really looking forward to that.

We'll get there, you can bet on that.
How do I know, since Mullin never coached ect ect ect?
He succeeded at everything he did, this will be no different. It will take years of learning how to coach, but even Wooden started unproven.

There are currently 15 programs on NCAA probation. They include the Henderson State University (d2) women's basketball program, the Clark Atlanta University (d2) women's tennis program, the SUNY Potsdam (d3) women's hockey program and the Southern Miss (d1) men's tennis program. Meanwhile NC players haven't opened a book since 2009, UK players have a private chef and Pick Pitino is running a brothel.

We just went from and 8 win team to a 6 win team. Bright side, the youngsters will get alot of run. Will pay off down the road.

We have been blaming NCAA for delaying ruling on his eligibility until this close to the season. Turns out we were wrong. NCAA ruled he was ineligible a while ago, and school appealed. It was appeal process that dragged out.  One other observation--I have learned that if you complain that a court is taking too long to make a decision, you usually get one quickly but you won't like it. Not sure Coach's criticisms of NCAA last week were wise. Plenty of time after a ruling is made to criticize. But before the decision is taunting the tiger.

Relax they will take a it on the chin this year.  Their only hope if they wanted to contend this year was to land Diallo, Briscoe and Sampson or after Lavin was let go to land Diallo and Sampson with Lovett eligible.  When that did not happen this was going to be a tough year.  So be it.

2 years ago Marquette was coming off a regular season BE title and was the consensus favorite to win the BE.  They went 9-9 and then lost their coach.  They then proceeded to have a disastrous season last year going 4-14.  They are poised to bounce back this year and are in great shape going forward.

Won't take that long.  Marquette fans did not jump of a bridge after last year.

This staff will get it done.

But I do love the excuse making by a certain NY Post reporter who somehow says he doesn't "root" for SJU but just covers them, meanwhile he basically has become a mouthpiece for the staff on everything including how Lovett took summer classes as if he has intimate knowledge of what the NCAA objected too.

Was he saying the same things when Pelle, Sampson and Garrett took summer classes at Apex?

BTW-Be thankful that Lovett was not declared a complete non-Qualifier (NQ).  He wouldn't even be on campus now.  He got half a loaf.

Don't sweat it.

If the decision was made a long time ago nothing Mullin said last week affected anything. If you think the NCAA was going to reverse its position without a federal judge telling them to, you're delusional.

Marquette was competitive all last year and had a top 10 recruit in the bag relatively early.  I'd sign up for a Marquette-like situation right now.

Crean's first few years at Indiana might be more applicable here - a complete tear down and multi year rebuild.

Competitive, they were 4-14?  They got blown out more then they were competitive.  And in 2 years they went from the top of the BEST CONFERENCE IN AMERICA to the bottom of a brand new conference.

This is nothing like Indiana.

SJU has a good base of talent coming back including 3 kids who will make a big impact next year (2 are on the roster and 1 is incoming).  Marquette did not have 2 partial qualifiers as talented as Lovett and Yakwe on their roster last year, you can take that to the bank.

And further more who's to say SJU can't be competitive in many of their games, they haven't even played any yet.  They very well maybe.  I didn't say they wouldn't be.

But the overall record will be like Lavin's second year probably, which is to say not good.  But so what. 

The only thing we can hang our hat on is to see a big improvement in the second half of the season.

Is Lovett definitely going to stay at the school? You assume he would but wouldn't be the first time with something like this for us. Again it seems like he's committed and a year of him practicing then having 4 more years would be awesome. But as with St. John's when something can go wrong it will.

I think the NCAA got pissed that Rabinowitz posted their number and kept calling and asking if their refrigerator was running, then hanging up. You think it was a coincidence that this came down right after he posted their number?

It's demoralizing but you can only think that this helps them down the road. It's going to be a long year but I think this team will improve a lot and pull off an upset or two along the way.
