Maybe Jay Bilas feels like doing some pro bono work.

I vote for Warren Zevon's response to situations like this. 'Bring money, guns and lawyers". That should straighten this thing out.

It's a very strange situation where a kid can get admitted to college but can't participate in an extra curricular activity. It would be like if a music major were not permitted to play in a band or a math major to do algebra. The NCAA is evidently checking Diallo's homework going back to the sixth grade - in the first place who but a psychotic helicopter mom saves homework from the sixth grade and in the second what bearing does whether Diallo could make one of those handprint turkeys in 2003 have on his ability to get a C in Sports Management in the one year he's going to be in college before he declares for the draft. The answer is it doesn't. All this is is the NCAA maintaining the myth of the "student athlete" so that it can line its pockets. It's shameful. I don't have much patience for the slavery rhetoric that gets tossed around cavalierly in regard to college athletics but this is a perverse system with a racial component that's difficult to dismiss out of hand. I don't recall anyone asking Marco Bourgault or Amar Ablavivovich for their grades, and they're two of the dumber players I've ever seen.

NCAA is ridiculous and does seem to just randomly make examples out of people. Seems to me it would be a better use of their resources to just stake out wherever Calipari is residing and prevent the stuff he is doing so they don't have to take away all their wins 5 years after they occurred.

I wish the kid was playing. From what I have read on here he is smart. I am sure he had issues but he is also a star athlete who was most likely given plenty of chances. Being eligible to play isn't that hard.

This analogy only makes sense if a kid admitted to college can't participate in intramural sports.

When ticket sales, merchandising and tv advertising dollars are involved we have apples and oranges.

No, what Fun posted is pretty accurate. They are questioning or doubt his transcript. They are basically saying he does not qualify to get into college. However he can go to college where according to them they are not sure he should be but he just can't play basketball????? That logic is very confusing to say the least.

You can't see how a kid not being allowed to participate in an extra curricular activity that draws 115,109 paying customers to a stadium; sells billions of dollars in assorted merchandise; and has prime time spots on most major tv networks is any different from a student not being permitted to play in a band or do algebra problems?

I'm sure they would factor the injury into their decision.

Then again, if staff is fighting to get him eligible then they obviously will play him. So kind of a moot point.

You really are a pessimist, huh?

If he was out he would be gone and not wearing a sweet visor in Maui.
Remember who broke the Slice news

I personally don't think he leaves anywhere but if I'm in that kid's shoes and I want to bail and go overseas due to clearence issues ala aquille Carr I think I'd probably wait till after the Maui trip at least lol

He's been cleared for next season.  Carr is a cautionary and sad tale. Very different situations.  Lovett will be here for years.

Fwiw, Zach B disagrees with Zags tweet referenced, noting his sources say otherwise. Who knows! We'll see.
