In all fairness, I think Lovett would have made a difference as far as handling the ball.  Mussini was the only ball handler on the court for us, and even he is a bit suspect.

RE the poor inbounding-does anyone on our team know you can run the baseline after made FG or FT? Ellison numerous times stood there like his feet were in cement and then just rolled the ball off his hand inbounds. I would have felt like telling him you are benched for the season! I think even his father is NERVOUS after that performance. I know he is better than that so kick him in the butt, send him back out there and tell him to get after it.

I guess us season ticket  holders should be thankful for the 3 freebies to the womens' games--at least they have an opportunity to win

That and the free hat!

So yeah, woof to this game.

The most distressing things were the defense, the fact that they couldn't inbound the ball, turnovers and the horrible dribbling/driving from anyone that wasn't Mussini.

Instead of watching the game on replay I think I am going to find all of your phone numbers and prank call you using the Arnold schearzenegger sound board "I want to talk to you about Thomas aquinas!!!"

Ugh can't even believe this result.  And my little sister at providence has been texting me non stop about the game.

I guess this is the first Mullin bash.  You have to do more than roll the balls out.  You have to run some plays.  I can't believe this team has such tremendous suction.  Where's Norm when you need him?

Yeah that was awful.  Nothing like the red-white scrimmage and how I thought we might come out.  This is definitely a rebuilding year, that much is very obvious.  We will definitely improved but don't have enough overall talent yet to be anywhere near we hoped.   there are some talented kids, but not nearly enough.  I realize that guys like mvouika and Williams are mainly here so we can field a team and roll the balls out.  Guys like Lovett, sima, Ellison and Mussini are really the ones we are building on.  Not having Owens and Yakwe hurts this year as well.  Damn that was ugly.

Two weeks of practice with a new staff, only two returning players, the starting PG on crutches, three freshmen starting, and Darien Williams lacking the conditioning to jog to the bathroom and everyone is acting surprised?

They needed this.  Everything was okay to them until tonight.  Now they have a sense of urgency and know where they stand.  Most posters predicted 13-15 wins and this is what an inexperienced 13-15 win team looks like two weeks after practice with its PG on crutches.  They've got two weeks, a scrimmage against Sonoma and two games against weak Wagner and UMBC, both coming off terrible seasons, to improve for Rutgers and the Maui.  If SJU has any luck, they will get Lovett back healthy and eligible by Sonoma to make a lot of this ugliness go away.  If not, it will be a brutal season.

Who are the 13 teams this team will defeat? I can't find 5 wins.

Short term pain, long term program success, if recruiting continues on current plane in my opinion. Enjoy growth of kids Dave noted & try to be patient. You will drive yourself nuts if you expect anything this season other than individual player development.

Thought Amar and jones >>>> better then Williams and sima. The lack of athleticism was shocking. That was the slowest St. John's team I have eve seen. The team could have used Felix .

Just curious, what do you see as the current plane of recruiting..?  We have one commitment for next year and the kid everyone thought was a lock - Bashir is now talking to Texas & Texas A&M

Not bashing anyone or trying to be negative but just looking at the obvious..   its going to be a VERY long and frustrating year.
