Anyone besides Sima look good. I was thinking Durand would be really good this year.
Durand has really bad form on his shot. And he line drives it. No arc. His arms and legs are all over the place. The thing is he hit them in the Red White but not against the DII teams. Troubling.
How is that troubling? If his form was bad and he never hit them it would be an issue.
He has hit 36% of his 3's in his career previously.
It is because he hasn't played in a year and a half, and some guys never regain their form after a long layoff like that. And he couldn't hit against DII comp. That is troubling. And I never remember his form being so all over the place.
He did hit a better looking three in the second half but he picked up his third foul on the next play. I was kind of hoping they'd leave him in to get him going. No big deal if he fouls out in a DII scrimmage that we were going to win easily anyway. We would have won by more if had stayed in. He finished the game with three fouls and after they took him out the lead shrank.
He wasn't hurt. Its not like he couldnt shoot every day which I'm certain he has been doing. I can't say for certain I remember his form. I'm sure I can take 5 minutes out of my day to YouTube clips of him from Brewster and see first hand. All I know is plenty of player have had horrible form and the ball goes in the basket. I'm hardly using these couple of games as a point.
Pretty sure Dwight Hardy had a horrible shooting 10 or so first games of his SJU career. How did that turn out.
This is true, Dwight had a killer second year. I wasn't watching St.John's so closely in Fall 09, so I can't tell you what Hardy looked like in the Fall of his first year.. But, in any case, Durand doesn't get a second year, and that worries me. Hopefully, though, once the season gets in full swing, and he plays steadily, his stroke will come around. The stat you provided from his Pitt days was encouraging, so maybe this will be the case. You're starting to make me think it will.
