Rutgers Game - Player of the Game

I can't believe I'm saying this... but Felix Balamou to the rescue !

Nice win, very encouraging game from Felix.

I voted for Balamou but MVOUIKA was a close second.  He was huge, and esp. with Ellison out, against team with bigger physical guards, we will need him to handle the point a bit.  Mussini not strong enough and was overwhelmed at times.

Felix last night was exactly what this team needed two years ago.  Then again so was Dom last year, but Lavin couldn't figure that out.  It's really sad that a team as talented (2013-2014) wouldn't have played this Rutgers team much different than an undermanned group of newcomers.

I wonder what Lavin was thinking watching him go off like that last night?  'I should have played him more."  "Who knew?"  "And they say I never developed anyone?"

If Ellison was healthy, I don't think we would have won last night.  That is not a knock on Ellison, but Balamou has been looking over his shoulder his entire career to be substituted after every mistake.  He needed a full game.

His best game by far.  Nobody knew what to expect from the kid.  So far it's been great.  He is able to play up a position and be a band-aid at PG in spite of his lack of athletic ability.  He's very good when he's under control and he seemed to be under control the entire game last night.

Probably the best option besides Mussini at point.  And in certain situations we can get away with the backcourt of the two of them I think.

Voted for Sima. He altered so many shots, really threw Rutgers off and was a steady presence throughout.

It's Sima.

As noted previously in this thread, Balywho was extremely active, fearless and looked like the best pure athlete on the floor.  However,  he showed a clear inability to finish from a range beyond 6 inches.  I hope that improves.

Fellini's worst game.  Shot 3 for 14 and was undeniably abused defensively.  Couldn't keep anyone in front of him and played matador defense the whole way.  I hope that improves.

Ronrico had a good game too.

I went with Ron, could have easily been felix or sima.

Ron reminds me of a poor mans Denzel Valentine.

I'm almost penalizing Sima because this has become the norm for him. I went with Felix because he had some crucial drives, rebounds, and passes at key times in the 2nd half to really help St. John's get back in it. Also 1st game of the year, getting the nod at 4:30, and almost getting a triple double off the bench. AWESOME.

Sima. But I will say Ron is a pleasant surprise, had no idea what to expect from him. Felix was a bit like Dom , a bit of everything. Felix had 11 boards and Jones had 2.Ron should be in the starting line up, even when Ellison comes back.

Ron is my favorite player. However I think he will be exposed when we play better teams.

How did Ron only get 10 MPG on Missouri State a year ago?

Edit: Nevermind. Looks like he got hurt.

It's Balamou, but Sima and Mvouika Are legit.  Mvouika is a great leader for this team.  Sima will be an All Big East player in a year.  Maybe even running for ROY.  He's so smooth at both ends.  He will be a legit pro in a few years.  All the guys mentioned had great games though.  Big stat lines against a Big Ten opponent.

Balamou was definitely the spark that they needed to get back in that game in the 2nd half. I'll go with him but Sima is the stat stuffer on this team as usual.

I get all the love for Felix, he had a great game, and Sima is the anti Obekpa, but Ron was huge down the stretch, so he gets my vote
