Felix has really exceeded my expectations. For a young short handed team, we did pretty good today. Let's not loose tomorrow. Ron goofed up fouling the 3 point shooters, but he also is a pleasant surprise .

Great effort.  M'Vouika killed us with TWO fouls on wild three pointers and that turnover at the end when we were down 6-7.  Ouch.
Mussini looks like a legit stud once again.  Balamou got to the tin at will...IU had no chance to stop him.  14 pts, 4 boards, and 4 assists.  He set up the shooters nicely.  I wish he could have that missed year back.

Good experience for the team.

Come on man, waiting for your updated assessment of Johnson. Just once could you say you may have been a tad off on him being all Big East player this year? :)

I think it goes without saying at this point, but I'll say it for the record:  he has been disappointing and I've been wrong.  He shows absolutely no desire to take control and Balamou, Jones, and M'Vouika all do.  We're five games in and he is new to this team, but if he doesn't take the reigns soon he never will.  Balamou loks like a better option than him right now.
Thx man!

Nice performance.  Mussini is the real thing.  D will improve as the team learns to play at this level and develop the team concept necessary for good D. Mouvika looking good so far, Sima will be solid but must stay out of foul trouble till we get more size.  Balamou is using his limited talents well and is a big surprise.  THinkng 5-6 BE wins and perhaps more if Lovett qualifies for the 2nd half.

Agree with Baldi on Felix being a 10 feet and in, take it to the basket guy.  But been impressed by how under control he looks.

I'm still holding out hope that we've not seen the best of Durand...

Durand needs to play more Felix style. He's a load going to the basket too. Needs to let his game go inside/out instead of outside/further outside

Sounds like Felix could be the resurrection of David Cain. Nice core of Sima/Jones/Mvouika/Balamou/Mussini. Off the bench; Ali, Williams, Johnson, Ellison. Not counting on Lovett or Yakwe.  Regarding Johnson, maybe he lacks confidence coming back from an injury? Regarding Williams, from the limited amount of time, spends a lot of time around the arc. Hope he doesn't become Kyle Cuffe II, a big man who likes to put up threes but not that well enough.

If we beat Chaminade, that will be a nice flight home. Today was a moral victory.

UNLV starting to pull away so it's a moot point now, but I was torn on who I wanted to play. Would not like to leave the island at 0-3 but there is nothing to be gained from playing Chaminade. Also, a loss to Chaminade would be brutal and not entirely out of the question. The 3rd game is always Chaminade's super bowl

It's too bad Felix wasn't a junior. HIs 75% redshirt year is a travesty.

Felix needs to play close to 40 on this team.  Felix on a good team sits the bench.

2 things: The first is that Balamou has been a much needed spark off the bench, but he's not able to impact the game like David Cain in 92/93. Cain was a first team all BE player, and probably the second best player in the conference after Terry Dehere.

Second, Kyle Cuffe never did materialize into the player that we hoped he'd be. But he had moments, and we were competitive a good deal of the time with him in the line up. Darien Williams hasn't shown is anything that would lead us to believe that he's able to play at that level. And that level ain't so high.

The team showed us what we were looking for today. Heart. As a group, by and large, they played hard, they battled back, and they gave Indiana a good sweat for the majority of the second half. Mussini played well. Sima played pretty well, and Mvouika and Balamou brought the energy we needed to give them a game.

Areas where we improved:
Help defense
Rebounding

Things to work on:
Ball movement
Switching on screens
Contested shots from all over the court
Going up strong with the ball

I don't think anyone would disagree with that plan, but the kid has to want it. He's a lollygagger.

I expected Johnson to be way more athletic than he is. I didn't expect Dom Pointer, but I would actually describe Johnson as unathletic for a SF. He takes the lowest percentage shots of anyone on the team and his defense is bad.

Not sure how he averaged 8ppg at Pitt. Hope he proves me wrong but I don't see much potential out of him so far.

I think they need to work on not switching on screens.

Not even 75%.  It might be even worse that he was misused and underused for so long.  He had a very promising freshman season that won over both Fun and I -- and that is not a common occurrence.  The things he did well like his poise, playing within his game, hustling and rebounding were just not thing Lavin valued.  If you could go back in time you would redshirt Dom his junior year and play Balamou.  Then we'd have Dom this season and a Balamou with experience.

I like Lavin less every day.
