I don't think Mullin has done any kind of masking the fact that we can't handle pressure. Not blaming him either. That can't be masked. Hopkins was either foolish or stubborn .  Any team lays back, lets mussini dribble up the court by himself and let's us set our offense can be beat. Any team including incarnate wood that pressures us can beat us.

If you cannot dribble the ball up the court, you pass it, and while I agree that Cuse hung back and didn't pressure us until it was too late, the passing the team did execute to beat the zone was better than I expected the team could execute.  I think you have to give credit to Coach for implementing a game plan that his team executed almost flawlessly.

I think Mullin and staff killed Hopkins and staff. I think we had a very good game plan and executed as well as possible . I just think Syracuse should have adjusted.

Agree 100%.  This may drive some on here nuts, but I highly doubt Lavin and his staff would have had the same result against Hopkins/Cuse with this team.  I think we would have lost by 20+ if Lav was on the sidelines Sunday.

If Lavin were still coach, the St. John's team that beat Syracuse would not have been on the court.  Only AliB, Jones, and Balmou were on his team, and they barely saw playing time.  Maybe Sampson had Lavin stayed, and I'm sure there would have been some others added.  Possibly Mussini, since Lavin began recruiting him, but probably not -- since Mussini has said he only came to play for Mullin.  Possibly Yakwe?  Possibly LoVett? In all honesty, I don't think anyone can say who would have been on the team this year had Lavin stayed, but with 9 new players added in a few months by the current staff, it's highly unlikely that Lavin's team would have had many of the same guys we currently have, and there's no way of telling how they would have been used.  Lavin never liked using his bench much.

Get real.  We had some pretty huge wins under Lavin...especially year one.  He's gone.  Thankfully, Mullin's here.  Some of you sound like bitter ex-wives.

What Mussini & Lovett are not Lavin recruits

Bilas ranks Syracuse as the 28th best team in the country lol

28. Syracuse Orange
As good as Syracuse looked in the Battle 4 Atlantis is as shaky as Syracuse looked against St. John's. Still, the Orange can be really good when shots go down. The problem is the back line of the zone and the youth in the middle. Usually, there is an anchor there, but this year there is not.

Let's face the facts also. We shot the lights out. Amar and Mussini were hitting their 3s from behind the NBA line. Can't count on that kind of shooting.

And you sound like Lavin was your first love.

Considering how much time you spend with your head up your own ass it's no surprise you think the hat is misplaced.

That is a mean thing to say.  You have upset my delicate constitution.

Wasn't my goal to tick off anyone with my last post.  My point was, had Lavin stayed, no one can say with any degree of certainty who'd be on his team this year, aside from our 3 holdovers.    Clearly no Jordan, Obekpa unlikely considering the circumstances of his suspension and his killing the seniors' chances against SDSU, and a hell of a lot of work still to be done to flesh out a roster.

He's wrong. The problem is their senior McDonald's AA center is a poor man's Shawnelle Scott on his best day. It's his turn to play and he's awful. Tyler Roberson is at least a sophomore maybe a junior and they have a junior center who never plays. Problem here is first player development and it's also the fact that for whatever reason, Joseph, their pg lost his job to Gbinije, a senior shooting guard. Reminds of when Mahoney had the bright idea of making Derek Brown the point guard. Let's hope they suffer the same that we did. I just can't imagine they have a president who is passionate about making the team fail as we had.

Joseph is gonna transfer. I'd take him in a heartbeat but won't happen.

Why do you want him? Boeheim recruits a very specific type of player. Kids that see the court well, and shoot well. If Joseph doesn't shoot well, he's a risk right away, but some players are just better suited to play man to man defense. Joseph is clearly in the doghouse, and that certainly helped us beat them.

Hopefully, he leaves the program mid-season, and Syracuse is left to play their ACC games with 7 players. The ACC isn't the powerhouse it usually is, but SU is in a dangerous period here. If Hopkins continues to struggle, it's going to be harder for him to convince kids that SU will be in good hands after Boeheim retires.

And seriously, it's friggan cold up there. Kids went for Boeheim. W out him, why will they go there over the many other ACC, Big Ten and BE schools?

Anybody doubts how good a coach Jimmy B is just pay attention to how good SU has been recently under him.

Yeah, I was on the fence the previous thirty years and 1000 wins but the last two weeks has convinced me.
