I honestly think it was yesterday's win. Good for them for rising to the occasion. It's a great building block.

after the horrendous loss to fordham and our performance in Maui, there is no way in hell we should've won yesterday .  greatest upset in Johnny history.

greatest upset in Johnny history.

Saint John's upset of #2 Duke in the 1979 NCAA tournament in Raleigh NC to the white courtesy telephone.

I am as baffled as I am delighted that Mike Hopkins didn't press us in the backcourt until it was too late. It's like he had absolutely no idea who he was playing yesterday. And it's not like this is his first experience with St.John's. He probably just assumed, it's St.John's, and St.John's can't shoot, so there's no reason to change our gameplan.

The truth is, guys like Alibegovic don't shoot like that often. Actually, he's never shot like that before.

Completely forgot we were unranked for the Duke game in 2000.  That game is not as surprising in retrospect, since we were a clear top 10 team when the NCAA wasnt messing with Barkley, but I guess at the time we didnt realize (or the country didnt realize) we were quite that good.

I think 2004 might have been most surprising...how many scholarship players did we play with?

EDIT:  Corrected factually per Poison's post.

There was no Ty that season. He had graduated. I think at that time, we didn't expect to have the winning streak against the juggernauts that we did. That game was the holy grail, because Duke was such a hated rival.

You're absolutely right.  I guess I combined the two things that dogged us from both seasons.  Whoops.

That game felt less "upset" since we had just beat Cuse and UConn.  The 3 in a row in 1 week was insane.

Honorable mention also Duke in 2011. That set in motion the season that was to come.
