This team is a lot like a leaky dike: put your finger in one hole and the water springs out another. One day it's turnovers, one day it's rebounding, one day it's free throws, one day it's poor shooting from 3, and every day it's the inability to defend the perimeter. They're young, they're mostly inexperienced, they're all new at playing together, and some of them are just not that good (yet). Looks as though the magnitude of what they've all gotten themselves into is starting to sink in, and they are staring straight into the abyss of a very rough season. Came out with much more intensity today, shot well in the first half, and hung around with a team ranked 25th on a neutral court. Way better effort than the last two games. Unless you're delusional, that's about all you can ask. Seems to me that a team that shoots free throws the way we have in the last two games is playing tight, and about the last thing they need is a coach beating on them during the game. There will be better days this year, and there will be worse days too. We don't have the talent, experience, or cohesiveness to win regularly yet. We're going to be wildly inconsistent. Right now, it just is what it is.
