I remember looking forward to the NYE game the last two years with good teams despite the ultimate result. Depressing that there's not much to get excited about this year

Yakwe seems to have pretty good form, would really like to see more shots falling

Yakwe when he gets a little more polished and improves his shot a bit is going to be a force.

Ive also been really impressed with ellison's aggressiveness. I think for the most part he plays within himself, just isn't finishing consistently yet

I don't see Marcus lovett there. Anybody see him or care to speculate why he would not be there?

We were down eight with about nine minutes left.  Balamou calling to come out because he is tired.  We're acting like the game is lost and then balamou himself comes down and shoots early.  How do you not call TO there, you have three left.  This is where we lost the game.  Right now we're down 10 with six to go.  It would have been a close game.  You call time out there. help your team.  Give them a rest.

They were down eight  with the ball and it went to 14 one minute later.

Lavinesque.  Good defense and they shoot with one second left on the clock, and then they watch the ball in flight and forget to box out Groselle.  Lavinesque.

Poor use of timeouts and no adjustments on offense or defense. The beat goes on.

Mullin is learning every game as much as all these new players are. There clearly has to be more in game adjustments going on. It does look Lavinesque in how 4 guys all stand there and one guy tries to go one on one to the hoop. That shit doesn't work at this level even if you've got Kentucky's roster. They need offensive and defensive sets and they need to get into them a lot faster. Creighton isn't that good at all but even they know court spacing and dribble drive offense. The Johnnies break noone down when they're on offense and everything starts too far from the basket. They need a true penetrating PG badly and there needs to be a lot more in game coaching.

Our guys played better then I expected. They competed. I do agree that one of our 10 coaches should have noticed that the guys were tired but I don't think it would have changed the outcome. It is going to get a lot worse when we start playing teams that play defense.
Good game Felix and yakwe!

Should it have been a tech? He had the momentum of a freight train. It was more the safe move to hang and pull up. No?

Brights spots: Yalwe and Ellison. Yakwe is aggressive and he contributed today. Made some nice progress. Needs to learn how to defend guys like #41. Yakwe didn't once deny him the ball. That needs to be taught by someone.

Ellison went to the basket, and looked much better doing it. He was our best player today.

The Ugly: No improvement in overall effort. As a group, these guys just don't play hard. Mullin is here to bring gritty NYC basketball back to St.John's. Johnson and M'vouika were brought here to set that tone. They aren't. Maybe we'll see more of Yakwe and Ellison. Mullin is going to have to keep finding ways to make them better. I think a lot of us would just like to see the 5 guys that work the hardest. Mussini dribbling the ball behind his back when it's not needed is the kind of thing the staff has to call attention to. It seems like they aren't calling attention to anything. We play with a low IQ.

The Stupid: Sima? What are you doing? That was a very previous staff recruit thing to do. Players recruited by this current staff don't pick up technicals fouls by hanging on the run after a dunk.
