Can't blame the refs. That's the 6th ranked team at home.

Great game. Future is bright
Baldi, that was one of the worst reffed games I've seen and not in our favor at all..  Yakwe had a ton of the cleanest blocks I've ever seen in my life.  Not including a ton of other bad calls.  It was a big difference in second half.

And by "some unfortunate calls" I really mean the refs were complete bullshit and screwed us but we can't really control that.

Dude dunks on Felix, wraps him up with his legs, taunts him, hangs on the rim, yet WE get the tech?  Then  Felix gets a foul call because Xavier's own plYer elbowed #2 in the head.. He should be teched for bitching that it was one of ours, WE get called for fouls?  For an elbow by his own teammate?

It's not just us.  This quote from the Providence board : "I've never seen a team get porked like St Johns is getting porked in this game. Worst officiating in any game I've ever watched. Ever."

I am never one to blame the refs but it did seem like we got hosed on a lot of calls.

6th ranked team in the nation.  They will get the calls, nothing new here. Our time will come

I love that we run set plays on offense now. With better players next year and in the future we will win these games. The coaching was great tonight and for the most part has been this season.

The Yakwe dunk out of bounds out of the timeout was beautiful. Would have never seen that out of the last staff.

We are in good hands. Wins clearly don't matter this year but I def want 1 for the kids. They do deserve it.

The coaching overall has been excellent.  We are competing every game.   We don't have depth nor talent to carry us...yet

Great post. Loved that out of bounds play. Love Yakwe finishing on the break and following up. Kid is a gazelle

That was a fun game to watch. Think the refs screwed us on some calls but such is life. If we can play like this to end the season we will grab a couple wins and be fun too watch. Yakwe is a lot of fun to watch, when he gets a little more of an offensive game this offseason look out for him. That's a top 5 team that we just pushed to the wire on their own home court, good effort all around.

If Lavin had these players, what would the point spreads in these games be?  We'd lose every game by 40 points.

Know this.  Our time will NEVER come in that department, as long as the BE offices are in NYC.  Refs automatically look over their shoulder when working "home base."  Happens in all sports.  It's not done intentionally, but it happens.

And, them being the 6th ranked team at home, and us being in last, is not justification.  Even if that is the reason, it's not right.

Watching Creighton v. Nova right now.  CBS not reporting that Xavier is 1st team in nation to 20 wins. What are they reporting about the game?  Ohh.  They're reporting  STJ's extends their losing streak to 12 games.  They're really playing up our losing streak.   They're not talking about Rutgers or Minnesota who are even worse, and don't have kids like we do coming in.  St. John's is key for the Big East and CBS does not own our rights (like ESPN).  They have to purchase them piece meal from Fox.  HMM.  Thats why they want to talk the Big East down.

Most enjoyable game to watch in a while. Loved the fight we showed.

I thought Ellison finally flashed some promise. He played well, got to the rim nicely, just doesn't finish yet consistently. More importantly he mad e a few outside shots which is so important. He needs to keep the defense honest and become a threat from outside.

Yakwe is an animal... Wait til he has some seasoning and muscle...
Remember he is playing the 5. Getting good exp. But will do better at the 4 being defended by smaller players.Next year him, Sima and Bashir should be a formidable front line.

Don't get worked up about it. It means very little and has no impact on our future or the future of the conference. It's why I watch a lot of games on mute and only watch sports networks when games are on. We'll be fine

This is the worst Sju team in history and you guys are praising the coaching staff???  Oh boy.   ???  Hopefully, accolades will be deserved and come at some point down the road.

In the midst of the current 97 game losing streak, it's just lip service.

I enjoy this site very much not because you are all real StJ fans that happen to  agree with me but, I can check in once every two weeks  and really learn what's going on without hours of historical research on every thread. Thank you.
After 55+ years as a StJ die hard I have learned first hand the power of a great coaching staff. We have high level average players with some potential stars of the future. Every game you can see their improvement  as a team.  It  is impressive to see us as the "heady " players  with a game plan and better intelligent ball management than all teams we have played so far in the BE.
We just can't score. We are a lousy shooting team.  For us, a lay up is a 50-50 proposition many games. That will get better and we will enter another golden era, perhaps the best one, in the upcoming years.  If a kid wants to learn team basketball right now, he has to come to St. John's.
I was very proud of the effort tonight and will never forget the Frenchman's magnificent performance. Thank you Felix and thanks for being here, Johnny Jungle.

I wasn't able to get home in time for the game last night but glad to read many of the positives on here. Xavier or G'town, not sure which team I despise more. Definitely the two biggest dbag teams in the BE. I can''t wait til we give Xavier a taste of their own medicine. It's coming.

I just hope that back in high school when Mullin banged Brian O'Connell's girl friend it was worth it.
