Saw this pic...still a way to go but seems like he's putting on good weight and seven months to go..

Wonder if he gives Sima a run more PT as the big.

He's a backup.  I don't think it's reasonable to expect any more from him next year.  15-20 mpg until he shows something.

Most likely the hand plus layoff but Sima really regressed once he came back. Have been hearing good things about Owens so you never know

Mentioned this in another thread last night but figured it was worth mentioning again since he has his own thread now.. Was there a few hours before the DePaul home win and Owens was out there shooting by himself with a couple rebounders and he was burying, I mean burying, 15 footer after 15 footer for the 5 minutes I watched him. Actually had a pretty nice looking stroke too, glad to see he's working hard and maybe he'll be a pleasant surprise next year.

Hope by almost he means almost to 20 pounds of his goal weight

He has very narrow shoulders for a big kid.  He can definitely put on more muscle, but his frame is extremely narrow and it will limit how big he can get.  Give him credit though, he's a ton thicker than when he got here.  He was a toothpick.

Yes. Instead of skinny he's slim.

Yeah he was the skinest player I have ever seen. Looks better but plenty of work to do.

He's skinnier than Sima but he's also more coordinated than Sima, and much quicker than him. I would not be surprised if he starts or plays 25-30 per game.

Size aside. Sima had some skills. This kid ... Who knows.

Every team in the Big East would take Sima on their roster, in a heartbeat.  I expect him to be much improved this year and even better as a junior.  Jury still out on Owens in my view. I know the staff thinks he can be a contributor next year but until I see him actually play against BE comp I have no idea what to think.

I think the jury is still out on Sima also. Didn't look that great after injury although he may not have been fully recovered.

Sure - Sima isn't a proven commodity yet.  I don't think any of our freshman are, with the exception of Yawke, who I'm pretty confident will develop into a really really good Big East player.  On Sima, recall the many unsolicited comments made by the other Big East coaches this year on him and what type of player he may well develop into.
