If they want to experience the NCAA tournament it's in their best interest to transfer. SJU is years away from making the tournament in my opinion.
How many years?

3-4 years

St. John's top transfer targets are Arizona guard Justin Simon and Michigan State forward Marvin Clark Jr., per sources. #sjubb

Very high level transfers.  I'd take both in a heartbeat and it helps us spread out scholarships.  Marvin Clark is a Caron-Butler type wing who would be a great pickup.  Ditto for Simon, who is high level big guard.  Go get em...

Love your enthusiasm, but I would temper the "Caron Butler type wing" comment a tad or two.

Amar was my favorite player. Sad to see him go.

I thought I was the only one who had him as my favorite player.  A tamer version of Psycho T but I loved his exuberance.

You really put Amar and Tyler Hansbrough in the same sentence..

Both are white.  Isn't that all that's needed for a comparison?

Agreed.  Two to three years away.  We really did need Alkins.

neither of these kids seems like the lee type impact kid that went to pitino this year. Guess it will depend on how well the staff develops players. Owens will be a good litmus test this year

That Livingston guy had me more excited

Just saying "type" in that he's a 6"5" wing/PF type with range.  Combo forward type.  I mean so only in that he has the build and range on his shot.  I'm by no means comparing impact on the program.

And for those pining for a 5-star player, Justin Simon out of Arizona was a 5 star player out of Hs ans has 3 years eligibility.  Sounds like a great pickup to me, if we can land him.

Player who Panther on Redmen noted would attract SJU interest possibly

Grad Transfer Alert: Anthony Livingston, averaged 15.5, 9.4 boards last season, will transfer, source told ESPN. High majors will be on him.

If I had my druthers, I'd probably prefer taking Simon to sit, and Livingston and Kostas to play. adds one more soph in Simon after sitting out, and bring in a senior and a freshman.   we could use a kid like Livingston next season who can really impact, losing Ali and Jones.

I kind of like the Clark kid, well built and nice lefty stroke. Kind of reminds me of Jeff Robinson who, besides a few issues, was a quality player for the Hall 5-6 years ago.
*wipes ketchup from his eyes* - I guess Heinz sight isn’t 20/20.

livingstons numbers look good (as long as he stops shooting threes).  scoring and rebounding like that could be a huge boost.  he went for 18 and 22! against arkansas little rock.. let's get this guy.

going through his game log, he also went for 7 and 11 against oregon; 20 and 5 against baylor; 29 and 11 against nd state; 20 and 10 against arkansas little rock.  so the kid put up good numbers even against some good teams... could be a great pickup.  and so little downside as a grad transfer
