By the way, who considered Justin Simon a 5-star prospect?

when a new coach takes over the first couple of months its amazing how many recruits visit by the next year they get hardly anybody to visit.

look at this time last this year Mullin had a different recruit come in every day this year hardly any it was like that with Lavin the same thing happened.

Paultzman - Thanks for the updates

Any other names and is the freak brother going to visit soon

How come they aren't going after the guard from Delaware and if Pitino interested in Simon the chances are not very good in getting him

He was number 30 in RSCI.   SO the consensus was he was pretty good.

Lovett and Ponds are both under 6 feet (Listed as 6'1" but let's be real..) and Mussini barely scratches the surface of 6'1". We don't need any more players of that stature.

The knock on the kid from Delaware is that his defense is awful.  Some teams are sound with d and could use the offensive boost. We aren't.

Realistically, Ponds and Lovett would shred that conference from day one, so I'm not too impressed with his #s.  Alpha Bangura averaged 18 and 5.5  as a frosh at Monmouth before transferring here and doing nothing.

Unfortunately SJU has little to no chance to make the NCAA tournament the next few years.

Little to no chance 2 or 3 seasons from now?  That's depressing.

Per Zach ( and Paultz) we are officially on the anthony livingston watch now. Outside of the cop punching incident- this is just the kids of player size, rebounding and scoring wise this team needs. Immediately eligible also.

Punching a cop should disqualify this kid from our recruiting efforts.

You would think , but not in today's sad world.

Not in my world it doesn't.

Regarding Da Ali B transfer.

Don't like having players that were disappointing as underclassman leaving before they get a chance to blossom as seniors and fifth year seniors.

It's like plowing, seeding, weeding and watering the crops - only to have them destroyed by a swarm of locusts the day before the harvest.

Shamori definitely not under 6'0", but it has nothing to do with a team's success.  Most of the national champions over the last 10 years won with backcourts under the 6'2" mark.

It has nothing to do with success but it does with defensive liabilities and matchups.

And for those pining for a 5-star player, Justin Simon out of Arizona was a 5 star player out of Hs ans has 3 years eligibility.  Sounds like a great pickup to me, if we can land him.

I'm a big fan of Justin.
Is he by some chance related to Miles Simon.

Don't think so.

Justin Simon is a great kid. Beaming personality that would thrive in NYC. He's a Penny like point guard which is something I personally covet. Really tough offensively and finishes well. My one concern about him is he's too nice. Need more killer out of him. He wasn't always aware how he could take over a game.

I'm with you. I think coaching staff wants to ride with their own guys (RF) instead of leftovers. I get it but I also value experience. I personally saw some good growth from Amar and thought another year of seasoning would have helped him again but tough to justify minutes for him next year.

Shamorie is as big as Paris Horne. He's not Myles Mack.

Is it hurting UNC this season with Paige, Berry and Britt all under 6'2"?  It's more about speed and skill at the college level.  Didn't hurt Shabazz nor Boatright either at Uconn.  Like I said, look back at national champs over last 10'years. Majority won by teams with guards that are sub 6'2".  Defensive matchups size-wise more important in the frontcourt than the backcourt.  And defense?  John Linehan was one of the best defensive guards I've seen on the ball and was tiny.

http://www.rumbleinthegarden.com/2016/3/29/11326236/amar-alibegovic-transferring-from-st-johns

Personally I thought he would get some minutes next year as a stretch 4 and then some additional minutes at either the 3 or 5 depending on how his foot speed and/or strength developed in the off season.
