How come they aren't going after the guard from Delaware
Lovett and Ponds are both under 6 feet (Listed as 6'1" but let's be real..) and Mussini barely scratches the surface of 6'1". We don't need any more players of that stature.
Shamori definitely not under 6'0", but it has nothing to do with a team's success. Most of the national champions over the last 10 years won with backcourts under the 6'2" mark.
It has nothing to do with success but it does with defensive liabilities and matchups.
Is it hurting UNC this season with Paige, Berry and Britt all under 6'2"? It's more about speed and skill at the college level. Didn't hurt Shabazz nor Boatright either at Uconn. Like I said, look back at national champs over last 10'years. Majority won by teams with guards that are sub 6'2". Defensive matchups size-wise more important in the frontcourt than the backcourt. And defense? John Linehan was one of the best defensive guards I've seen on the ball and was tiny.
Did you have to bring up that little waterbug
Not to mention Marcus Hatten, Erick Barkley, Darryl Hill, Boo Harvey, Dwight Hardy at 6'2" or under. Looks like the fears of having a backcourt with a few 6-footers is mostly unfounded. Everybody wants a Jason Kidd but most teams Don't have guys like that causing mismatch problems.
Spot on. Speaking of mismatch problems, that Lonzo Ball kid is going to be a huge one for almost everyone he plays. 6'6 pg who can ball (no pun).
Lonzo ball is one of those Jason Kidd types that is the exception to the rule. He doesn't belong in college ball and won't be for more than one season, guaranteed. Very few out there like him. Shamori pit up 40+ against him, but head to head, i, sure had no way of stopping a kid that size by himself. Team defense would have to pick up some slack there.
Incidentally, if you watch the Lonzo ball vs Shamori highlights on YouTube, there's no way Lonzo is 6'5" as listed and Shamori sub-6-foot as some are suggesting. When they are man-up, there's no way there's that big of a disparity. Shamori probably close to the height he's listed at 6'1" because I do believe Ball is definitely 6'4"-6-6".
