I #$%^inf hate the ACC and UNC.  Afro Studies has to go remedial...  As much as some here might not want Nova to win, I think it's fantastic.  Legitimacy for our league.  Let every other league earn it back.  Very happy for them and it's time for SJU's rise...  But overall great for th Big East.. Our home forever...

WOW

Great defensive job. Great officiating.  I just hope this doesn't make Nova too attractive of an option now for the ACC.

ESPN is one fell swoop said its time to give Nova and he BE credit, even though nobody watches them play.  Cannot wait until SJU gets their program back in gear.

Jay Wright has officially arrived, and the BE is alive again. Great to see.
Just think, if Jarvis takes that Wizards job...

Nova isn't going anywhere. What a buzz kill thing to say lol. That's not a legitimate thing to worry about. Enjoy this big east, great for our conference.

What an amazing victory for Nova, and for the Big East. Just a few short years ago when the ACC poached away Syracuse, Louisville, Notre Dame, and Pittsburgh,  everyone thought that the Big East was finished. But today the Catholic 7 struck back. Villanova, the best our conference had to offer this year, went toe to toe with one of the flagship programs of the conference that tried to destroy us on several occasions. The conference that constantly is circling over MSG like a vulture waiting to take over our turf, and play it's conference tournament there. Well they can officially back off because the Big East is here to stay, and Nova's victory just gave the conference instant credibility and relevance.

Although rivals throughout the years with Nova I really feel a huge sense of pride for them representing the conference so well tonight, and throughout the tournament this year. I'm sure in years past schools in the "bigger" conferences were telling recruits that the Big East was a notch beneath them, and playing at their school would give them better competition than playing here. Having the reigning national champion in the conference should put an end to that. I just hope one day St. John's can pull off the same feat Nova just did. It's obviously going to be very tough, and I know the chances are slim, but Nova winning tonight really shows that you don't have to recruit a team of 5 star players, or play in a quote-on-quote power conference to win a national title. We are light years away of even dreaming of a championship, but it's not impossible as proved by Nova tonight.

What has to happen now is that the rest of the conference needs to step up (especially SJU) or the BE may not be taken serious again. This is where Football helps covers up the deficiencies of the other conferences. Nova is only 1-2 in the BET, but I can see critics saying that they are the only "real" basketball program in the conference. It would help if somebody else becomes regular season champs as well, and of course more teams advancing farther.

The BE would be fine if St.John's and Depaul towed the line. Both have been a disgrace.

You are so dramatic.  The new big east has been in existence for 3 years.  We were a bubble team year 1, a tourney team year 2 and then this year we obviously sucked.  Not that disgraceful but need to be consistent.

Yes we did not do our part for years but that was in the much better BE which was so good they didn't even need us to be better.  Now they do.  Hopefully we do our part.

Next year when both tournaments are being played here, the NCAA champion will be found playing in MSG not the Barclay's.  Big East back to where it belongs.

We have not won a tourney game in 16 years. Since Lou retired, we've underachieved in every single season, except for two that the hated Mike Jarvis coached. We are not pulling our weight, but feel free to call me a troll because I'm objective.

The BE has always needed us to be good. Our president had other plans.

To be fair we underachieved under coach C, just at a much higher level.

I believe Villanova is the 1st Catholic school to even play in the championship since Seton Hall did in 1989

Underachieved means you failed to reasonably live up to your talent and skill level.  No way SJU has done that every year except for 2.  Baloney.

You want to argue Jarvis, Norm or Lavin should have positioned SJU with more talent in those years they were lousy that's fair but for the most part when SJU has been bad the past 2 decades it is because they simply were never any good especially with talent.

The BE did damn fine with out us being good from 2001 to 2013.  Not sure what league you were watching.

Correct.  Other than huge school Syracuse which is almost a separate beast, Duke, Butler and G Tech are the only other private schools to make the finals during that time period as well.

Correct.  The NEW BE does need SJU however I think we all agree.  Villanova's win last night was great but it shows more about where Villanova is then where the BE is.  In other words Villanova is the clear class of the league by a mile.

UNC will always be good but think about this, you had Syracuse in the Final 4, Duke won the Tourney last year, Louisville was a missed FT away from going last year to the Final 4, ND is the only team to go to the Elite 8 the last 2 years and arguably the best team in the league the last 3 years was NONE of those teams-Virginia.  Think about that, that is serious depth and strength.  Nova would be just another really good team in the ACC whereas in the BE they are head and shoulders above everyone else.

And as I said earlier SJU's goal is to get to that level consistently.  Not go 10-8 or make 3 NCAA's in 4 years, get to NOVA's level.
