Biography: Jayvaughn Pinkston is a native of Brooklyn, NY is a member of the 2010 recruiting class. He attends Bishop Loughlin High School which he was rumored to be leaving but he will remain there for his senior season pegging him to be the “best” player in NYC for the 2009-2010 season.
Scouting Reports: Jayvaughn is known for his scoring prowess around the low block using his body well to seal his position and score with ease. Jayvaughn also likes to get his hands on the basketball although sometimes is a bit selfish with the ball. Jayvaughn needs to grow some more to be a serious PF at the next level because he doesn’t have the skills on the outside to be a SF. -Dylan Kitts (Fall 2007)
One heck of an all-around athlete and ball player are the words that quickly sum up Jayvaughn Pinkston. At 6’6, Pinkston can play anywhere on the court. From the guard position, the wing, to the post. No spot is un-usual for the Bishop Loughlin star. Pinkston has drastically improved his outside game which is a very nice compliment to his pure muscle and hustle in the paint. He now has the ability to pull up on a dime and shoot a mid-range jumpshot. His ball-handling has been taken to a new level too. -Ray Anczelowicz Gotham Hoops (Summer 2009)
Pinkston is an extremely talented tweener. Skilled enough to play the 3 in college but not in good enough shape to guard other 3’s. Likely will wind up being a perimeter PF on the next level. Has a great spot up shot from beyond the arc and is crafty off the dribble. Pinkston is also smooth for his size. He needs to tone his body more, and questions over his effort level have come into question. -Theo Rabinowitz (Summer 2009)
